A father was arrested this morning after his star high school running back son was fatally stabbed in the Bronx just hours after his graduation when the pair fought with parking attendants they accused of stealing from their car, cops said.
Andre Muller, 40, of Manhattan was charge with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Isayah Muller -- who led Truman HS to the city championship last fall -- had attended the ceremony with his dad, mom and girlfriend at Lehman College and then went to retrieve their car.

The case is expected to be presented to a grand jury as early as today.

As they headed to a City Island restaurant afterward Andre noticed his son's graduation present of cologne was missing, turned the car around and returned to the garage, cops and family said.

When they arrived at the lot on Jerome Avenue and E. 196th Street around 4 p.m. the father and son began fighting with the workers, cops said.

During the struggle Isayah, 19, was knifed in the chest.

Sources said the father accused parking the lot attendant of stealing the $200 bottle of cologne.

Isayah and his dad rushed back to the car and Andre sped to a medical clinic about 10 blocks away. Isayah was then taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died.

His dad and the attendants were taken to the 52nd Precinct station house. A police source said cops are investigating the possibility the attendants "acted in self defense."

Isayah, who was set to attend Nassau Community College, had a whopping 295 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the title game.

"The kid had all the intangibles that makes football players great," his coach, John-James Shepherd, told The Post.

"He was as loyal a teammate as anyone could ask for and he was as good of a kid that anyone could hope to come across.

"I'm in a state of disbelief. I was hugging this kid at his graduation this morning."
His devastated grandmother, Myrna Valentine, said: "They just took my heart. They broke it into a million pieces."

Can't say I'm sad about this. I just feel bad for the guy who knifed him. He'll probably be going to jail even though he was defending against these savages.

I'd hate for you to be on a jury.

Let's see, the father and son confront and then begin assaulting the attendants for possibly stealing some cologne. One of the attendants, while defending himself, uses deadly force against one of his attackers.

Unless there's more to this case, which there always is, what did the attendant who was attacked do wrong?

If a person feels their life is in danger then deadly force is justified.

What about this part of the story? Sounds to me like the parking attendant was in the right.

"Speaking to Fox 5 News Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said: 'What a tragedy. [Andre] Muller was the aggressor.'
'He [Andre] struck one of the attendants whom I believe is still in the hospital.
'He assaulted the attendant. He picked up a shovel and struck the attendant.

'Another attendant had a shank, which is a homemade knife. The young man also participated in the assault and was stabbed.'
Star running back Isayah, known as ‘Zayah’ to friends, led his team to the Public Schools Athletic League championship last year.
The family arrived at the car park on Tuesday morning and walked to a campus for the graduation of Harry S. Truman High School students.
They headed back to the car after the ceremony and just after they left to go for dinner Mr Muller noticed something was missing, police said.
An argument erupted between Isayah's father and parking attendants and he accused them of stealing something from the car, police said.
A source told the New York Daily News the allegedly stolen items were ‘expensive fragrances’ worth up to $200.

Police: Prep star's dad caused fatal fight
Published: June 29, 2011 at 8:22 PM

NEW YORK, June 29 (UPI) -- An incident in which a New York City high school football star was stabbed to death was precipitated by the teen's father, police said Wednesday.

The fatal violence only hours after the Tuesday graduation of running back Isayah Muller, 19, from Truman High School in the Bronx, was started when his father, Andre Muller, 40, attacked two parking lot attendants, New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

Kelly told WNYW-TV, New York, that Andre Muller, who has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 1990, allegedly assaulted the attendants with a snow shovel after accusing them of stealing a $200 bottle of cologne from his car.

The commissioner said Isayah Muller "participated in the assault" and was stabbed with a "homemade shank" by one of the workers, the New York Daily News reported.

Andre Muller has been charged with assault, menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon, the newspaper said.

Isayah Muller led Truman High School to the New York city championship last fall and had just finished his commencement ceremony at Lehman College before he was killed.

Sounds like the father is a longtime turd and he's responsible for his son dying.

The father is responsible for the kids death. The parking lot attendant was defending himself from an attack that could have killed him. And what type of father engages in that type of behavior infront of his son?

That's my take on it, not sure why others are on the other side of the issue. There could be more that we don't know about, but from what I've read so far it sounds like self defense.

You're the only one with a brain in this thread and I usually disagree with your posts but you're right.

You're an idiot.

Getting called an idiot by you is a good thing. I'm sorry man, I kinda tried being civil towards you thinking maybe you were a good person somewhere in there but most of your posts are calling people names for no reason.

You make baby Jesus cry.
