Today I went to watch a movie on my PC on Netflix because my son was watching somthing else on the tv in our living room and got this error:

"There are 1 movies being watched, which is the limit for your membership. Please stop playing at least 1 movie and try again later. Visit Netflix.com help for assistance."

So I call Netflix thinking there's some sort of a mistake. I tell the guy whats going on and he tells me there is and has always been a 1 movie limit for stream on my account. At that point I tell him it most definitely has not always been that way. I tell yhim I've been able to stream up to 6 devices ever since I signed up for Netflix. He tells me I must have been getting around a glitch in their system. At that point I asked him if there weas a glitch in the system then why did the service always deny me when I was over 6 devices running at once and to deactivate 1 device. He had no answer for that, but to say i got past the system aka: beat the system.... He then told me I could stream more then 1 device but it would be 19.99 for 2 29.99 for 3 and so on...lol... you have got to be fucking kidding me.. I argued with him for about 10 minutes and got no where. He kept saying I'm not lying to you sir, it's always been this way... I said, OK, you win, i will be canceling the service if this is the way it's gonna be.

1) Open brokerage account
2) Click "short stock"; select Netflix

Or...

1) Open brokerage account
2) Buy put options on Netfix.

That's all there is to it.

To expound upon my earlier post, tradeking shouldn't have a problem setting you up with the appropriate account permissions to either short a stock or buy naked puts.

I cancelled when they announced the rate hikes. Redbox will get my business if I want a flick from now on.

Not Hard at all. Matter of fact I Did just that because there's a Thread around here talking about this. Hpark1 posted that it was over inflated to begin with.
So after I saw that Post, I called my broker and Told him to Short it.

Made a nice little killing on that....

Not going to say you missed the boat, even though it was over 300 at the time and
Today it's around 225. I still think what Hpark1 said was it wasn't even worth this much.

It has always been just 1 at a time. Netflix is worthless, until your able to stream newer movies it will never justify the price.

Thank god i just steal my sisters account password and use her if there was ever anything i want to watch

How much do you guys pay a month?

People are ungrateful and get used to good things fast. Let's go back to how it was in the 90's where you had to pay Blockbuster $8 a movie. Let's see how much you like that.

Stop being cheap.

The technology has evolved to the point where it is super efficient/easy to let us download and stream our own shit. I bet they make more now than they did in the 90s. Getting screwed is still getting screwed regardless of the price - besides it isn't like there aren't better, cheaper options anyhow.

Oh my, no.

There's a tremendous backlog of top television programs available.

Over past year I honestly have almost eliminated 100% of my "commercial" television viewing save for sports. Being able to watch my preferred televison programs without commericals is pretty much Awesome.

This is the bottom line

I've no doubt that other outfits will step up in the next few years and honestly rival Netflix available streaming content. But until that happens, $30 a month to pretty much completely fulfill my (and SheBar's) modest demands is great

We likely use about 20 DVDs a month....mostly television programs...and as noted in my last post, stream the rest.

Pro-rated cost per "program" works out to be maybe 50 cents per viewing at the very most

Yeah, the amount of subscribers that left was waaaay above market expectations.

Honestly, I think if they had jsut put more thought into the announcement than "we're charging you higher prices. Deal with it.", it wouldn't be so bad. I mean, really, it may be a "60% increase" but it's like $7. Most people wouldn't care that much but for NetFlix's "This is how much it's going to cost. Pay it or leave" attitude.

Stock's down like 20% since the announcement. ouch.

I'm in shock at how many people just stream the crappy movies from the bad selection they have. I've always rented DVDs and Blu-rays.

http://mashable.com/2011/09/07/netflix-not-limiting-streams/

Outrage over Netflix‘s apparent decision to limit concurrent content streams to one per customer may have been for naught. The company has responded, claiming that stream limitation messages were displayed in error. First reported by Stop the Cap and later confirmed in Mashable‘s own tests, it looked like Netflix was finally enforcing its concurrent streaming policy, which according to its terms of service, limits streaming-only customers to one stream at a time.

Additional streams are available to users that pay more per month. Netflix’s spokesman Steve Swasey responded to Time via email, noting that “no Netflix member is limited to less than two concurrent streams. A few Netflix members have heard differently from us, which is an error that we are correcting.” When Mashable‘s Ben Parr was researching the issue yesterday, he found that while movie streams were limited to one per account, he was successfully able to concurrently stream more than one TV show at once. That gives credence to Netflix’s claim that this was just an unexpected glitch. My Netflix plan allows me to stream on two devices at once, but in my own rudimentary tests, I was able to successfully stream content on my MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone and via a Roku player simultaneously. Crisis averted — for now.

Netflix has had a rough few months. Last week, one of the company’s premier content partners, Starz, announced that it had ended renewal discussions with the subscription streaming giant. To compound issues, this news came the same day that Netflix’s price increases went into effect. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Dish Network is planning to launch its own Netflix competitor in October.

Get with the times - Redbox is where it's at, homies!

Just joking, they have a horrible selection.

There are so many options these days though (I sound so old). That's the problem with Netflix. Netflix is testing the demand. Maybe they will lose, maybe they will win. But someone in their marketing team sold this idea to their board of directors and the board bought it. A decision like this isn't made by someone in their call center, so don't blame them either.

So how was the decision sold? It was some sort of marketing analysis that showed that people would upgrade their subscription from 1 at a time to 2 or 3 or 4 at a time, and that these people would outweight the subscribers who left. It's anybody's guess on whether or not that analysis will be correct over the long run...
