Here's a much better one:

Jason Giambi BA: .195
Jason Giambi OBP: .386

Thats almost a 200 point difference. Unreal.

thats not odd.. he's got a bunch of walks because he's afraid to swing and miss.

come on, never seen a time where 2 power positions lead off .

I don't know if it's true, but last night I was watching the Dodgers game, and they said that the only two shortstops in MLB history to bat over .300, have over 200 hits, and steal over 30 bases in one season were

Honus Wagner

and

Mark Grudzielanek :monsters-

I would be surprised if Cal Ripken ever stole more than 5 bases in a season.

Thanks. It was Steve Lyon giving out the info so I guess I should have double checked it. Maybe he meant Grudzielanek and Wagner were the only shortstops without highlights in their hair to accomplish the feat.

When Craig Biggio came up he was catching and leading off with Ken Caminitti playing 3rd hitting second sometimes. Early 80s Texas had Jim Sunberg catching and leading off with Buddy Bell at 3rd and hitting second on occasion.

Cal Ripken had 200+ hits in 1983 and 1991. The most he ever stole was 6.

The year A-Rod stole the 46 was in 1998 when he had 213 hits and hit .310 and 42 home runs.

The Dodger broadcast must have meant National League shortstops.
Grudzielanek did it in 1996 with Montreal and Wagner did it twice.

I got that beat

Carlos May is the only Major League baseball player to ever wear his birthday on the back of his uniform - Born May 17th 1948, May wore number 17 and natrually had MAY stiched above his number.

Carlos May also blew part of his thumb off with a gun and still played after the accident with a partial plastic thumb. An even bigger oddity.
