I'm updating this thread now that the matter is resolved. Here's the original post and my update below :

-- Original Post --
Did anybody make a wager on the TCU / Boise St game at SIA? If so, please indicate which side you had and what the line was and what time it was placed.

I made a wager on TCU. SIA hung a line of +12, which was the best I could find as most other shops had +11.5.

When I checked my account a couple days later, I found the bet was graded as a loss. Looking deeper, the bet history stated I took TCU -12, when Boise St was the favorite and TCU was the underdog.

After contacting them, they simply voided the bet and refused to credit the winnings.

So, I would like to know if anybody else placed a bet on this game, and how it was handled by SIA.

This is my first time having any sort of problems with them. I've been with them for about a year and they always paid promptly.

-- Update --

My thanks goes to Sting at gambling911 for looking into this matter and contacting SIA on my behalf. Here's an excerpt of the reply I've gotten from Sting's contact at SIA.

------------
What seems to have happened here is that for a short time the line on this game
was reversed and TCU were posted at -12 instead of +12. When this happens we
void any bets, and try to contact everyone who bet the bad line and let them
know of the error, giving them the option of re-instating the bet with the
corrected line before the game starts.

Your case is unusual as you bet the wrong side of the bad line as usually most
of the bets would have been on Boise St +12, with no action on TCU, especially
when the line was so far out. Anyway I believe our Customer Service department
treated you unfairly as it is clear your intented bet was on TCU +12, and for
this please accept my sincere apologies.
------------

As I've said before, this is the first time I've had any problems with them in about a year of being with them. I've always been paid promptly when I requested a payout. And when I had to call them before on other issues, the CSR's on the phone have actually been very pleasant to deal with, so I've had a very favorable impression of them until this happened. Needless to say, I was pissed when I kept getting boneheaded responses from SIA at first when this thing happened, but at least there is one preson in there that has a clear head.

Thanks to Sting, and also Michael Cash (who offered to help as well), the General (who suggested that I contact those two people) and happy holidays everyone.

Voiding a bad line bet is standard procedure at all books. Well maybe not all.

The more I think about it, this just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Why would I take TCU minus 12 points when they were getting +11.5 points at most palces?. It's one thing if I took Boise St plus 12 and they voided the bet since that's obviously a bad line.

This was a college bowl game with a lot of action. I made the wager shortly before kick off time. If they indeed posted TCU -12 points, it's hard for me to believe that they posted such an obviously wrong line for 2 weeks up until shortly before kick off.

It would clarify things a ton if somebody else placed a bet on the same event and tells us how it was graded.

I'am hearing this from SIA customers quite a bit around the bowl season. The handle so many faded bets that they just put the screws to alot of the winners by claiming that they had a bad line and are therefore not responsible for the wager (if you are on the winning side). If you have a loser though, don't count on getting a refund. one thing to do at every book, and yes even Pinnacle is PRINT YOUR WAGERS. This is atleast some proof of what the actual line was at the time of the wager. The books are the only ones that have access to all of the accounts activity and there is absolutely nothing that prevents the webmaster from gaining access to lines, accounts, daily hold, anything. After all is said and done SPORTSINTERACTION Is THE ENRON OF THE OFFSHORE SPORTSBOOK INDUSTRY!!

Seymour,

Thanks for the info. Could you save a screen shot of that and email it to me? What was the time stamp on your wager?

Thanks a lot.

SIA make up their own rules, smoothie.

it is entirely possible that they "adjusted" your bet if you have a winning record, but not that of other players who don't have winning records.

SIA do not accept that it is OK for any bettor to make money from betting, EVER.

I personally was never cheated by them on a bet, but since I consistently beat them on their soft lines I just reckoned it was only a matter of time before they pulled some sort of dirty stunt.

So I got out and will return only in the unlikely event that ETHICS begins to feature in their approach to business.

Only Yacrooks is a worse book that I have been with.

I think I'm up only about $1300 with them. I've been with them for about a year now, and no problems until now.

I just got a reply from them saying that only some of the bets on this game were incorrectly lined at TCU -12. Thus, they only had to void some of the wagers.

this is boilerplate, posted regularly as a public service:

When you play with SIA, just assume you are playing into your local mob-backed bookie. If you start winning big/long term, you get cut. You wanna big withdrawal after you raped 'em? Fvck you pal, wait a while. They think you are cheating in some way, Mr. Dual IPs? Well "good luck collecting, asshole". They ran up a dumb line and got screwed? "Hey, those bets don't count, sorry pal, our mistake." And that's how it goes.

I'm serious, this is exactly what you are dealing with. They do enough legit business to keep the banner online, but behind the scenes it's simply organized crime as usual.

This actually happened the number was reversed for a short period of time. Yes, they can void the bets. You must look at your bet when you make it. If the line is wrong don't bet it. I had TCU + with them and it was also graded a winner.

All I can say is I hope they voided the people who took Boise +12. You would think they would pay your side, knowing you meant +12.

What else can I add to what has already been written above -- about SIA? I got a bad line on a bet (meaning the screen showed one thing and I got something else, something not what I wanted), I telephoned them immediately, I had a .jpg picture of what the screen show showed when I clicked the mouse.

SIA refused to fix it. They didn't care that I had a screen shot. SIA voids a bet when it is to their advantage, but if the customer gets screwed, they tell him to take a long walk on a short pier.

The software at SIA is the pits. SIA doesn't deal fairly with their customers.

If you deal with this book, keep your balance at a reasonable level. I do -- because I expect SIA to either screw me or boot me any minute.

Thank You
Dweeb
