I need some help from you guys because I really have no idea what to do here. Actually I do have an idea but I would like your opinions.

Basically on this game only what my bets boil down to is I have 1700 on the Cards to win 200 and I have 100 on the Astros to win 1000.

So if the Cards win this game, I will get 1900 back and if the Astros win I will get 1100 back. Should I put 400 on the Astros today to win 480 and just cut my losses a little further here? Should I go higher on the Astros or lower? Should I ride out this bet in the hopes that Carpenter and the Cards pull out this one game?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Any opinions? Let it ride. Make it even between both teams. Or favor more one team or the other.

i think the key here is to get back your 1700!!! if houston wins you lose 1700$ and thats a heavy hit....i would hedge to get your origional investment back, fuck making a profit, get you money back....i think you have dreaded this bet from the start and dont let greed spoil your chances of getting back to even, which is probablly what you "wished" for the second after you put the bet in....tough call but i would get my orig investment guarenteed to me then play units per game...series betting is always tough because each game has a feel.....like tonights game has a feel of houston winning, at least in my eyes!!

Is it a game or series bet. If it is for the series, you get nothing back if the cards win this game. Maybe I dont understand your bets

Basically my bets ride on tonights game.

I have 1700 to win 200 saying the Cardinals will win at least 2 games.

I have 100 to win 1000 saying the Astros win 4 games to 1.

So if the Cardinals win tonight I get a total of 1900 back to me---100 profit
If the Astros win I get a total of 1100 back---700 loss

I was thinking of just splitting it so I lose either way about 350

No offense, but what the hell were you thinking when you made these two bets?

Did you make these bets at the same time?
I guess i just don't see the logic of betting both of these games.

Basically you are sitting with 700 to win 100 on the Cards to win this game. The only thing you could do is bet 100 on the Astros lower your risk, but you can't really hedge something like this IMO. You hedge to guarentee yourself a profit, but in this case you never gave yourself a chance to do so by making these two bets. The only last option you have is to wait for a possible chance at live betting.

With all that being said. . .

I made the bet at different times. I had the hedging opportunity when the Cardinals went up 1-0 and the Astros were at +1900 for winning the series 4-1.
You are right it is not a hedge but rather trying to recoup some loss.
Houston seems like the obvious play tonight. The only thing the Cardinals have going for them is that their best pitcher is going tonight and he has been great especially against Houston. If I did not have these crazy bets I would probably take Houston tonight being they have looked like the much better team and they want to close this out tonight. Since I like Houston so much the Cardinals are probably the play.

dude,
ride it out. Carpenter has been money for Cards all year, they're well positioned to send it back to St. Louis. Make your hundred dollars. If it loses, suck it up, because laying 1700 to win 200 is fuckin retarded, no offense.

I just let it go. So if Houston wins I'll lose 700. Cards win and I win 100. I am looking at live betting as a way to cover it possibly.:drink:

ok, well good luck...i think if you let it go, just let it go....fuck in game betting, you are already "in game" betting with all that money you have on the line...if you lose there still are a few games left in the season to get it back in the ws...either way good luck!!

No I thought about it when the Astros were +330 before they went up 4-2.

That was a crazy game. Pujols may have provided a spark that this team desperately needed.

Do you got the Cards +450 or so for the series? If so, I'll be rooting for you.

Considering my account started at 300 about month-month and a half ago and I went to 6400. I am doing pretty well. The 700 loss if the Astros won tonight would have been a hit but thats the way it goes sometimes. I was stupid/greedy for not hedging like I planned too before I made the bet. I am usually good with hedging and taking wins. Oh well.

pimple nice cover! Now get off those ludicrous lines, i hope the NLCS put a big enough scare that you stop, but behold i think you'll have to pay your book a big chunk before you truly stop. Nothing sets the priorities straight like paying the man everything you got. good luck

BigMaxxx GL with that cards play. 4-1 amazing value playing home. hope it cashes 'cause i hate Pettitte & Clemens. Never liked em on the yanks, pettitte is as tough as a schoolgirl & Clemens just came to the yanks for a ring like wade boggs

Here's to hopin for a Sox/Cards world series :drink:
