I heard Hellmuth threw a massive fit which included throwing himself on the floor and pounding his fists.

Please tell me it's true and that there is video of it occurring.

He got into a big hand against Adam Katz, and here it is from his live blog from the WSOP courtesy of Cardplayer:

Ok, so let's just say that since my last update things have gotten really interesting.

To start, Mr. Hellmuth and I got into a few confrontations, both on and off the felt. Words were said, the floor had to be called over, and the general mood was not pleasant. Phil implied that he needed protection, saying that I had major insecurities, and that if I wanted to I should go to my box and put up some money. I basically retaliated by telling him that a ten-time bracelet winner challenging a guy he doesn't even know seems more insecure than anything.

Admittedly, things got carried away. Once they calmed down, we starting over fresh and shook hands.

Overall, I think he's a good guy, and I guess I don't blame him for blowing up. After all, he's Phil Hellmuth, and he takes everything at the WSOP seriously

Here's the email I got today:

Hellmuth Loses His Chips and His Cool

With 90 players remaining in event 10, all of whom are in the money, players are anything less than patient, and tempers are everything but subdued. Phil Hellmuth was eliminated in 104th place, and his exit was all but graceful.

On a flop of 4 of diamonds, 3 of spades, and 2 of spades, Phil Hellmuth gets put to a decision for all of his chips when Great “Spiderman” Partho moves all-in. Sami Rustom, also at Hellmuth’s table, decides to call “clock” on Phil after only a couple of minutes. This is about the point where Hellmuth begins to have a minor meltdown and starts by calling the floor over. Hellmuth tells Rustom, “I’ve been playing everyday straight for four or five days now and I have a decision for all of my chips.” Rustom explains that he feels that Phil is abusing the clock by taking a few minutes to make the call. Phil replies, “By calling the clock on me, you’re abusing the clock, and if you do it again, you’ll get a twenty minute penalty!” So the floor man gets involved and tells Rustom that Hellmuth still has three or four minutes to act before the clock will go in effect. Hellmuth dives back into the tank and ultimately makes the call. Hellmuth shows 9 of spades and 9 of clubs and Spiderman flips over AJ of clubs for the bluff. Hellmuth loves his position until a 5 hits giving Spiderman the wheel, and this is where Hellmuth totally loses it. He screams and dives head-first out of his seat and onto the floor. He pounds the floor with his fists during his temper tantrum, and then stands up only to start taking digs at Spiderman. Phil proceeds to have a conversation with himself out loud and the phrases “mother f-----“ and “idiot” seem to make several appearances. After Hellmuth tells Spiderman, “You played that hand like an idiot!”, Spiderman now loses his cool replying, “You’re the idiot, you bet all of your money on nines, and now you’re broke!” Well Phil may be busted, but he certainly isn’t broke and his 104th place finish today has earned him $3,901.

Hardly a bad beat. Phil was less than 2/1 favorite as his opponent had plenty of outs.

I was in Vegas on the 2nd of June and was watching Hellmuth play. As usual, when he loses its only because of bad play by the other person. When he folded a hand, he stated, "I am the only player in the world who can fold this hand". I mean, he obviously is a great hold'em player as 10 bracelets say so. I just hate that when he loses the other person got lucky. When he wins its always skill.

"How Is Helmuth Spoiled"

If you think his behaviour at a poker table is normal then you haven`t spent ANY time in the real world. In the thousands of games I`ve played in on Mil. bases all over the world a guy like him would last about 15 mins. I don`t care how good he is, all the more reason to show some class, which he has none. When he loses he finds his Mom or Dad and whines. Then they tell him how great he is. He`s an immature asshole. Watch Ivey, Brunson, Cunningham etc. they play it like MEN!! Win or lose.

Finished 6th (won 76 grand), tying T.J. Cloutier's record for most WSOP final table appearances. The ego is certainly being fed during this year's events, as Phil is apparently on top of his game.
