As long as Charlie makes a commitment to running the ball, ND should really wear down the Hawaii D. I like ND to cover, Hawaii hasn't faced this big of an O-line in the WAC
Maybe 5 years ago, part of ND being as bad as they are is they no longer get everyones best shot. These kids playing tomorrow are 18-22 years old, for their football watching life over the last 9-12 years, Notre Dame has been pretty bad. Hawaii gets no bonus points for beating ND at home.
Because Weis was spared from banishment at his alma matter and has been holding extra practices in preparation for this game, I like the Irish to cover as they simply have more to prove and will be more focused on the outcome.... Then again, when it comes to ND, you have to consider throwing logic out the window...
Anyway, BOL and Merry Christmas to all at the Rx.
First off, let me kill the misconception that Hawaii has a solid passing offense. When June Jones, Colt Brennan, and the whole corp of receivers left, so did the high powered offense everyone remembers from the last few years.
BUT.
And here's the meat and potatoes. Hawaii plays tough at home. Combine that with a bunch of teenagers here from the mainland who have never been in paradise before, soaking up the rays and enjoying their vacations...
That has always been an issue for teams playing here, and it always will...
This is coming from a guy who has watched every UH home game this season.
(Sadly)
Take this advice.
Play the over, or dont play it at all.
Notre Dame WILL score.
Hawaii WILL score.
Not to mention there will be a shit load of turnovers, which will lead to more scores.
Trust.
As we say in the islands,
Mele Kalikimaka
(Merry Christmas)
And BOL!
Aloha
Hawaii wins and covers. EDIT - ND is favored? HA!
Hawaii is playing a home game here. They're tough at home. They should have beat Cincinnati. Their only other loss at home was on a game winning field goal to a solid SJSU team which Hawaii turned the ball over 6 times. -6 turnover differential, and only lost by 3!
ND can't beat anyone decent, let alone go into Hawaii and come out with a win. And hello, this is a bowl game! ND can't win bowl games, how many times does this have to be proven?
Spare me the "talent disparity" comments. I mean really, ND has talent? How many people are they going to get drafted in April? Where was the talent against Syracuse? Against SDSU? Stanford? These are horrible teams (OK, Stanford is average) that they're losing to or keeping the game way to close, at home.
I'm going to enjoy watching ND look confused as they go down in yet another bowl game. To hell with ND! Go Rainbow Warriors!
