Go early in the day on a night when the place will not be packed. Carry some black chips in your hand as you do the checking in, making the inference you are already playing some decent coin. Don't tip them, that won't get you anywhere because it is hard for them to accept tips without risking their jobs.
On another note, whenever I am in Vegas on business I try to stay at the Mirage. Last couple times they gave me upgrades without even a request on my part. I was on the 25th floor with a jacuzzi tub and great view for the standard rate of $109 I think it was. Granted on business I am always staying mid-week. That strategy works as well as any, just keep going to the same place and chances are after awhile there may be a perk in it for you.
Can't say where, but i have heard that the Shrink is very connected in this respect. He tips a host X amount of dollars every trip and gets RFB. But then again, we should have known that a shrewd guy like him would find these deals. I still have to put in the 4 hours and hope they give me the full RFB.

That forum is deader than my penis.
didnt really care about the forum. . liked the info and links. what a whack attitude. bring that penis back to life and have a threesome with two hot chics and come back and then tell me what you thought about that forum
best i ever did was "accidentally" let slip i worked for espn in september 1991 when i was flying back there after a few weeks out here in CA hoping it would start the guy asking questions and all - and it did. he asked me some questions and i answered them. i "just so happened" to have an espn banner with me and gave it to the guy. by sheer coincidence i "somehow" got bumped up to first class for the long ass cross country flight
Casino hosts are not supposed to accept tips from gamblers, but a few of them do.
They key is to find one that accepts tips, put the money in a thank you card with the envelope sealed because if they get caught accepting tips, they can and will lose their jobs...
As WeekendAlky pointed out., I do use this technique sometimes and it beats having to play all those hours when I'd rather "hit and run" when going to the casinos..
