I am going this year and would like to know everyone's thoughts on the ticket situation. Right now they are $800 and up on all the sites and fleabay. If any of you have had an experience with buying tickets from scalpers outside the stadium, were you able to get tickets cheaper than what was available online? Any insight would be appreciated as I would much rather spend around $500 than $1000.

I have been to three and got my tickets on E-bay the last two and from a broker in 2002. Paid $ 800 per in 2002 for 50 yard line seats 20 rows up behind the Ohio State bench. Those days are gone....Last year in the Superdome I paid $ 2,500 per for 30 yard line in the mezzanine. Of course there were sellers at each game, but none at prices discounted from those that I bought in advance....lots of folks had fun in Tempe or New Orleans and ended up just watching the game in a bar.

I have been to the Orange Bowl (2000, 2004) and the Sugar Bowl (2003). I got my tickets through Oklahoma each time but there were plenty of tickets available for both the Orange Bowl games (including 2000 when Fla. St was the opponent). The Sugar Bowl was different because LSU was in the game for the first time. I had some buddies who sold their tickets to Tiger Fans for $700/ea. and watched the game in a bar.

I think even if Florida is in the game, you can buy decent tickets near kickoff for $350-$600.

I would be careful about counterfeit tickets. I have heard some horror stories.

i went to the superdome in 2005 for the sugar bowl between oklahoma and lsu.

got to watch it from the governor's 50 yard line suite! one of the best nights of my life... free food, beer, liqour, women.

i also met snoop dogg that night while walking through the hall for the restroom. he was sporting his usc jersey.

Through the University with your season tickets. I got an application about 6 weeks ago with every bowl game on it and I put down how many I wanted for which bowl(s).

Went to the Fl State/VTech Sugar bowl and the FL State/Okla Orange bowl and got tickets from scalpers both times, most I paid was $175 per ticket. You can try the ticket exchanges that most schools have at the rivals websites. You may have to wait pretty close before kickoff but they will definitely be floating around.

I'm 50 and have been playing the game for 30+ years and I am embarrassed to say I have never been to a division 1A game period! Doesn't that suck! Been to almost every other sporting venue including boxing but never to a college game! Disgraceful!

Never been to the BCS game, but it's safe to assume that you would be better off purchasing the tickets ahead of time, having a plan and not having to worry about hustling to get tickets...quiet realxing afternoon, nice ealry dinner, maybe some afternoon whores, a nap, and then off to the game...no worries mate!

It's a gamble buying tickets from scalpers but depending on supply and demand it sometimes works out quite well. If you go that route, watch for buses parking, cus often the group will end up with extra tickets when it's a group tour type deal. I've often had good luck with that, I once ran into a guy with 8 spare seats to the Super Bowl and got em for $100 a piece , walked about a quarter mile and sold em for $250 each!! Enjoy the game!!

I suggest buying from the local craigslisting...I have never been to a BCS championship, although I have successfully bought and sold tickets on craigslisting.

I was in Tempe for the 2003 Fiesta Bowl (OHSt 31-24 MiaFl). I had a great time watching the game at Hooters.

I've been twice; do not buy online dude, get from a scalper at the game. You're overpaying otherwise.

thats kind of what i was thinking. i'm just kind of worried that if florida makes it they might be hard to come by with all the locals wanting to go....

Once the title game teams have been announced, call the schools. Sometimes making a small donation to the booster club will get you a shot at a ticket. Depending on who the teams are you can probably get on a waiting list. Also check directly with the stadium in Miami. They may have waiting lists but the seats may be obstructed view and individual seats.

Also check the conference. For instance, if Oklahoma goes, the other teams in the Big 12 will get a few tickets. You may be able to buy a ticket by purchasing a KSU (Just an example) season ticket for next year.

The other would be waiting until the game has kicked off getting a scalped ticket for face value or less.
