I ask knowing very little about the genre but seeing two potential new artists out there that fall into these groups.

Rissi Palmer is the gal I was thinking of. Just promote her more heavily and spend more on production and there you go. Thats all it is these days. Girl has all the talent in the world.

A man being tabbed as the first known Muslim country and western singer got his start in Iowa City.

After self-releasing two albums through an Iowa City recording studio, Kareem Salama is starting to catch on, and people are telling him he is one of a kind.

“That’s what they say, that he is the first Muslim country music singer. But, I don’t know that for a fact,” the 2007 University of Iowa College of Law alumnus said.

It all depends on how you define "country music"

One of the primary offshoots of country is Tejano music. Same rhythm & country "twang" but sung in a combination of Spanish & English. Doesn't get much play beyond the southwest states, but where it does get played, people like it A LOT. So, from that "country music" there's Selena. Incredibly popular, the Hispanic Shania Twain. RIP

There's also Cowboy Troy (he's black). Again, same rhythm & country "twang" but he also raps. Has more than just a couple of albums and people go crazy over him. He's been on tour with & opened for Big & Rich and you don't get any bigger in country music than those two. So, he would be another star to add to your list.

OK, so it seems a yes on a black country singer.

What about Hispanic? And I don't mean Tejano, I'm talking down and dirty country.

I think Snoop just set music back around 20 years with that song.

Sad thing is it will be a hit.

That's one of those inside jokes where they try and make the worst song possible and watch people buy and listen to it, isn't it?
