Has anyone ever been nicer in the NBA than Tim Duncan?

I try to find a reason to dislike this guy (besides his teams' stomping mine and me losing my money) but I just can't ! The Admiral was also a great guy and he mentored TD , so I"m sure that's part of his 'niceness'. This guy is the perfect role model for todays youth and todays old f***ers!:toast:

A couple of years ago I saw a clip of Duncan mildly complaining to a ref (Dick Bavetta I think) about a call. He said, "I'll bet you money that the ball didn't go out of bounds off of me". The ref said "I don't bet money" lolBIG: ), and Duncan said, "Ok, then I'll bet you a hamburger" and the ref took him up on his offer. Can you imagine Rasheed Wallace having the same conversation?

Duncan niceness

That was reflected again last night when Carlos Arroyo sprained his ankle down at the Spurs end with less than a minute to go and it was Duncan coming off the bench to assist him before the Piston trainer made it down the court.

If Duncan played outside San Antonio the world would know how great a player and man this guy is. Vlad Guerrero was discovered by the mainstream by playing a year in the L.A. market last year for his MVP talent after being only known in baseball circles while no one was watching in Montreal.

To me---he's an easy guy to root for, because he seems genuinely a good guy. Has given a lot to San Antonio financially it was reported on the news two years ago!

Far more pro athletes are nice decent people than thugs, but the media doesn't highlight or talk about nice guys. Did Dr. J come off as a bad guy? How about Magic? If people stopped caring about personal gambling habits MJ would be seen as quite a great guy too. Duncan isn't alone today either. Nash has turned down most promotional opportunities to give time and significant money to charities. Is he a nicer guy then?

Amen to that. If I ever had a kid and he turned out like that I would be proud as hell. He is an example TO US ALL young and old of any race.

I always get nervous calling these guys Nice guys or good guys. How do we know? We don't really know them. Kirby Puckett was a great guy, attacked a woman in a bathroom. He beat that rap, but SI ran an article and a lot of negative shit came out about him.

I root for the Laundry, and don't worry too much about the other stuff.
