Hard to believe the Twins and Marlins were almost done away with.

I wonder how Mr Selig feels seeing the Minnesota Twins (a team he wanted to do away with) playing so well the past 2+ years?

What ever happened to this great plan baseball had to do away with Florida and Minnesota lol?

And has anyone heard what condidtion the Arizona franchise is in these days? A couple years ago they were borrowing money to make payroll? Baseball has been tight lipped on all three of these past concerns...did Fla and Minn. play their way back into baseball`s future?

What does a teams performance have to do with their economic status as a profitable business. Are you a paid poster? You're asking one of the rhetorical question on the bottom of a red robin coaster.

Buddy would still dump them if he could. Winning and losing games means nothing to the MLB owners these days.

areef is right though. but if you watched the movie where the little kid manages the twins it just wouldnt be the same. "and whats with all this 3rd person stuff?" "they all do it, danny tartabull. . ." "well let danny tartabull's mom worry about danny tartabull!"

who the hell is danny tartabul anyways?!

Team performance can have everything to do with how a team in MLB generates revenue...What kind of ridiculous reply back was that?

Just look back to the late 70`s when Oakland drew just over 300,000 fans for the entire season, before Billy Martin rejuvinated the city, and then the Rickey Henderson era comes along and the team is back on its feet, it happens all the time...there are many examples of a team`s winning in the standings directly impacting a teams profit/loss magin.

Minnesota and Florida have won 4 of the 17 World Series Championships....just under 25%

While the Red Sox, NY Mets, Orioles, both Chicago teams, San Francisco, Detroit, St.Louis, haven`t won any....

He did strikeout quite a bit but he had some pretty good years with KC than NY...He kinda fell off the table quick though...I remember a night when hit 2 grandslams vs Baltimore, he had a bushel of RBI`s , he always killed the Orioles..

His father was also a bigleaguer

Journeyman, The Marlins and Twins were never even close to being done away with. It was a bargaining chip the Commish was using to get concessions from the union for the collective bargaining agreement. After the collective bargaining agreement, the word "contraction" has never been brought up.
