I believe this is the formula.
1. Give 10 points if a team has won a Super Bowl in the last three years.
2. Give 8.0 points to any team whose opponent is playing in their very first Super Bowl in franchise history.
3. Give 8.0 points to the team that has allowed the fewer defensive rushes.
4. Give 7.0 points to the team with the best straight up win/loss record including playoffs.
5. Give 7.0 points to the team with the most offensive rushes.
6. Give 5.0 points to the team with the lower defensive rush average per carry.
7. Give 4.0 points to the team that has the best net kick-punt touchdown returns.
8. Give 4.0 points to the team the team with the better record against the point spread.
9. Give 4.0 points to the team that has the superior net penalty yards.
10. Give 3.5 points to the team that has the best yards per pass attempt.
11. Give 3.5 points to the team that has given up the fewest points.
12. Give 3.5 points to the team that has allowed the fewest rushing touchdowns.
13. Give 3.0 points to the team that has the most sacks.
14. Give 2.5 points to the team with the fewest offensive pass attempts.
15. Give 2.0 points to the team that had the best net punts (total) on the year.
16. Give 1.5 points to the team with the best average per offensive rush.
17. Give 1.0 points to the team with the best completion percentage.

I see it in most places listed like this:

10 If team has won the Super Bowl in last 3 years
8 if an opponent is going to their first Super Bowl
8 to the team that allows fewer defensive rushes
7 give to team with most offensive rushes
7 award the team with best overall record (straight up)
5 to the team with the lowest def. rush average per carry
4 give 4 pts. to the team with the better ATS record
4 to the team that has the superior NET penalty yards
4 to the team with the best NET kick-punt TD returns
3.5 team with the best yds per pass attempt
3.5 to the team that gave up the fewest points
3.5 allowed the fewest rushing TD's
3 award 3 points to the team with the most sacks
2.5 team with the fewest offensive pass attempts
2 team with the best NET punts (total) on the season
1.5 add to the team with the best avg. per off. rush
1 add 1 to the team with the best completion percent

NE is the clear winner according to Hank's system.

It has been bad the last several years. A lot of observers point out that since the game changed to be more QB-centric, the system has lost its mojo. It needs tweaking (and Hank is dead) but if someone else does the tweaking it likely loses its appeal, so I see it as a novelty.

I don't use the top two entries in the hank stram workout and the last six years the workout is 2-4...leaving out the top two leaves me with nothing but statistics who is the better team?
