Well of course there are great uses for teasers, but I am going to show you a few examples where you are actually losing money by betting a teaser even when it wins.

Personally, I hate teasers. I would just rather bet the parlay, then be stupid enough to bet a teaser. But there are times where you may want a basketball team to just WIN a game, but not cover. Having said that, I do love Denver and Phoenix tonight. But here are a few examples of the same bet done with moneyline and then a 5 point NBA teaser.

Now sure, you do get +1 with Phoenix and Denver, but that would only tie your teaser anyway. More importantly, you would have Houston at -3 and San Antonio at -2.5. Those points could kill you.



Here is another example using a 2 team teaser of 4 points.

Of course asshole #1 has to come and say some shit. I would FULLY expect to see the other assholes come in here as well. It isnt like you guys actually bet on the games anyway.

Football teasers are usually stupid in my opinion as well. 80% of the time that you win your teaser, you would have won it as a parlay as well

I disagree ... somewhat.

Your examples above prove one thing .... Don't Play Baseketball Teasers.

But anyone who knows anything about betting sports has already knows this. This should not be breaking news to most around here.

Now Teasing Football, that is a different story. Yes ... most of the time the team you pick, the point spread doesnt come into play, but that is the most important part. Picking the winner.

Now you look at key numbers, and see if the teaser does indeed help you. If it does not ... why would you play it ?

I don't buy into all the talk about "Teasers Are Sucker Bets"

If you can pick 60% winners, and if by playing teasers you can increase your winning % to 75 or 80% how can Teasers Be Sucker Bets ?

PO69, I honestly think this is very valuable information. However, you have to understand that this is entirely situational...."teasers are sucker bets" is far to broad to make as a statement.

I've heard in football, if you can cut over the 3 and 7 point mark on the teaser, you are in pretty good shape. (maybe a +2.5 going to a +8.5)...sure the moneyline would give you nice parlay odds there, but that game ends 1-8 a good % of the time.

Not bashing you (gravy drip....LOL) as this is great information....just making sure everyone keeps in mind when the teaser is a horrible idea (your two examples)

The first 2 lines of his post should have looked like this ....

BB Teasers = Sucker Bets
Football Teaser = Only played when they cross KEY Numbers

The problem is, 80-90% of people who play teasers don't understand how to use them to their advantage. That is the reason many say Teasers are sucker bets.

If the books had a one page titled "This is how to Win Playing Teasers" on their site and expained to never play BB teasers and only play FB teasers that crossed key numbers, they would stop taking teaser action ASAP.

When you have 80-90% of people playing them, not using teasers to increase their winning percentage, they will continue to offer them.

When you no longer are able to get action playing teasers, you will know that the general public/squares have all clued in.

Well I was talking about basketball obviously. Hence the 2 examples involving basketball.


Having said that, those winning teasers in football usually would have won in parlays as well
