I just came back from a one week vacation on the north pacific coast of Costa Rica... I toured the province of Guanacaste for the first time in my life, and LOVED IT!

Guanacaste is all flat lands! A nice change from the province of San Jose... The beaches of Guanacaste are FABULOUS!

On the last day that I was in the Gulf of Papagayo, my family and I decided to go on a boat tour. Turns out that for just $25 an hour, up to 7 people could go, and even snorkeling gear was included!

After leaving the beach, within 5 minutes dolphins were jumping alongside our boat as we cruised along the Gulf of Papagayo.... That was really something! Then we also got to snorkel on a beach called Playa Penca where we saw some bright-colored fish.

The weather in Guanacaste was fantastic... The heat reminded me of California summers... I really had missed out on so much beauty... If you haven't gone, make some time and get out there!

I am thankful to have visited Guanacaste, can't wait to go again and do some sport fishing next time!

If in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, I recommend you stay at Hotel & Villas Acacia. Good service, good rates, and a very nice pool.

I heard there is a Four Season Resort about to open in the vicinity of Playa Hermosa. Looking forward to visiting there once they open, and as time allows.

As we headed back we stayed at the Barcelo Playa Langosta Beach Resort for one night... It was nice, but not what I expected. Their food was average at best.

Tico, glad you had a great time, good for you. I haven't been there yet, but I'm looking forward to going on a fishing trip very soon. The furthest I've been is Melia Conchal, it was incredible, so beautiful and a ton of fun.

Guanacaste is gorgeous, and a nice change from the dreary San Jose rain. My favorite spots include: Flamingo, Tamarindo, Conchal.

Montezuma is also a good little party town, although a lot of Euro riff-raff goes there.

Hey... hi Judge.. Happy to see you reply... I figured you too would agree... doesn't it just make you want to retire and live there? hehehehe

I actually wondered if a book couldn't set itself up in those regions. There is an International Airport there in Liberia afterall... I'm sure Sat signals would not be an issue... oh...wait... service might be a problem. It's a 5 hour drive from San Jose. Bummer.

Seriously though... Guanacaste is definitely a place to visit and stay in for at least 3 days. Arenal Volcano is another nice destination... seeing the lava spewing down the mountain side at nights is quite a sight!

I've been to Cahuita in Limon, on the Caribbean side before... what is your favorite beach spot in province of Limon, Judge?
