I hope so; I like their new coach, Doug Marrone as well as playmaker Mike Williams who was suspended last season due to academic ineligibility...lol

Guys, just the fact that Syracuse is having to start a player that hasn't played football in years at QB, of all positions, shows you how far regressed this program is right now. I know the guys is an athlete, but the QB position is a position that takes a lot of time and practice to run because of the timing and reads you have to make.

Minnesota is the only bet I have made and I felt safe making it a week ago . . . . .

I can see your reasoning, but I thought you did not play futures?

It wasn't played on a future, this is the week #1 game line. I don't like betting a game that is 2 or 3 months down the road. I don't really like betting a game that is 2 or 3 weeks away either, but Minnesota would have to lose a lot of key personnel between now and then for this to be a bad bet.

What do you see the line doing on this game, it's gotta go up from here right? I still don't see why it's so low. I know Minny finished last year with five losses and they have a big week 2 game in the new stadium but this is the first game of the year, no way is it a look ahead spot.

I agree completely....listen, Paulus can come out and be Colt McCoy...but it is HIGHLY doubtful....Marrone is cleaning house there....

This is a long-term reclimation project...Paulus is simply a short-term bandage to hopefully keep them somewhat competitive...

Even if a QB is Joe Namath in waiting, it still doesn't mean he can get on the same page with his receivers in 3 short weeks before the season begins. Trial and error and how well a team comes together is made in competetion. Not practices in which the receivers and QB are off limits to those linebackers and db's. You can plan on the experienced Minnesota secondary breaking up the nice rhythm that Paulus and his receivers have been enjoying in practice.

The Under 48.5 is a gift.

Not only is Syracuse starting a QB that has not played organized football in 4+ years, but Minnesota is transitioning from a spread to a pro-style attack.

Now the starting kicker has left the team:

Marrone also announced that freshman kicker Shane Raupers, who was in line to be the team's starter, has left the program. He said Ryan Lichtenstein now becomes the favorite for field goals.

I like the over because Syr defense sucks and min still has a ability to score many points

He was good enough to work-out with several NFL teams over the off season, after not having played football since high school! How many other QB's get to work out with pro teams before they've even played a down of college football and after a four year layoff.

Good chance Paulus will turn out to be the real deal.

QB is all about mechanics and making reads and in the spread you now have to be able to run or to at least scramble. Evidentally he himself thought he was a better basketball player than football player at one time in his life.
Getting a tryout does not say much. More people get tryouts than you might imagine they just don't make headlines all the time. Evidentally the Syracuse coach thinks he is their best chance to win and the Minn defense is no where close to the best defense he will see this year. If he struggles in that game it will be a long season for him, his coach, and his team.

Now the kicker walks! Amazing.

I don't see how most of the lines are still under 7.

I remember Coach K giving some "I wash my hands of this thing" looks when asked for comments, although of course he wished the lad the best. "Why can't little Gregie be one of our 3 dozen ex-player assistant coaches like a good little dookie," he must have been thinking....

I am going to enjoy this, oh yes, oh yes, oh yes.... hey - perhaps they will get Dick Vital to come in and call the game!

Minnesota all the way!
