Depends on where he is coming from? If you have to choose a place in SC to raise kids it's a pretty good choice. I don't live in greenville but have relatives that live in Gville. Where does he live now?

Blue,

My wife is from there and we lived there for 5 years before moving back to Tampa about a year ago. I would recommend it, but it does depend on what you're used to. I think it's a good place to raise a family. The pace of life was a little slow for me (having grown up in Boston), but it's okay. GREAT home value, which is drawing a lot of people there. The place is growing, the cost of living is low--there are worse things in life.

Wow! Talk about a thread that stuck out.

I lived in Spartanburg, SC for 3 yrs after college after living in Charleston, SC for my whole life. Spartanburg is around 30 minutes from Greenville and I commuted to Greenville for clients and bars on a weekly basis.

Outside of Charleston, I would recommend Greenville, SC over any place in the state. Low cost of living, the area is growing due to increased manufacturing plants and big corporations moving to area, solid schools, and the people are the nicest you would ever meet. Like another poster stated, it is slower than most areas but that is preferred by many people.

Good Luck and Welcome to SC!

I would agree with what your brother read. Greenville is close enough to the mountains to be a little cooler. Don't get me wrong--it still gets hot there. Where would he be moving from?
