Can someone who was around in the 60`s explain why Namath gets so much credit? Take away The Guarantee, what else did he do, because his stats are very ordinary...

I will go with Lou Gehrig, closely followed by Joe D. and The Mick...

The greatest New Yorker I personally saw play probably Lawrence Taylor in all honesty...as tainted as he is lol...

I would have to go with MM and Joe D, not sure in what order.

as far as most popular with women, I'd have to vote Derek Jeter and Joe Namath.

Pretty easy. Aside from Babe Ruth the most revered figure in New York sports history is Joe Dimaggio. His 56 game hitting streak is arguably the most unatainable record in baseball.

Boys,

Sorry but this is a no-brainer. Not only did the guy play some pretty good baseball but he also drilled Marilyn Monroe!

Wil

Hope all is well! Pretty easy choice when you factor in Marilyn.

What you say we nail us a Preakness winner?

Joe D had an aura about him like no other...not just sports figures either...

More on Gehrig though, Lou Gehrig`s great career was cut short as we all know, but what would Gehrig`s final numbers have looked like if he didn`t become ill? Well over 600 homeruns, he would have put the RBI record out of site, and his lifetime avg isn`t far behind Babe Ruth either...He wasn`t that far behind Babe Ruth really in career numbers and would have been even closer had he finished his career...

Ruth #1
Gehrig #1A

Since I did say 'sports figure' and not greatest athlete I guess you have a point...

Mantle would also rank higher than Gehrig as a sports figure (which is somewhat different) but Gehrig was every bit as good a ballplayer as either of them...

Its an opinion!

*Note* Please leave all poster ego`s at the coat rack before entering! Thank You!

Its a joke Wil...the ego reference was a joke, wy are you taking this so serious? If someone doesn`t agree with your OPINION of who is the greatest whatever you chastise them as if your always right...these are opinions , there are no right or wrong ANSWERS (as you put it) to these sortive questions...

No paranoia here Pal

I was making a joke, of course I am fully aware of who`s ego is where (mine included) but thats where the joke lies....The whole ego reference was a joke Wil, if you notice the smiley...Sorry I didn`t realize you were this easy to piss off...
