With the arrival of "Seabiscuit" soon approaching, just curious as to everyones favorites in the film industry's depiction of our sport.
Personally, Let It Ride does it for me. The classic scenes are too numerous to mention. Robbie Coltrane as the teller absolutely kills me.
Finishing out the exacta would have to be The Longshot. How can you forget the trainer with the two right shoes? Or Johnathon Winters giving the guys a ride to the track?

Let It Ride---enjoy the scenes of Hialeah-never to be seen again! Phar Lap was a great movie too. And there was a movie-Robert Mitchum was the father-Australian family-had a fast horse-basically raced the horse across Australia---must have been made in the late 50's---cannot recall name but it was something like "The Drifters".

very strange, as i was just going to ask you guys if you had seen The Longshot. I was at walmart with my girlfriend and while she was in line I was going through the 5.88 DVD bin. I got a double feature with The Longshot and They went that a way & That a Way. Probably watch it here in the next week.

Let It Ride and The Longshot are two of my favorites of all time for sure.

Seabiscuit has potential to be a classic, but will be a much different kind of movie.

I actually own the movie Phar Lap. It's Australian. If you liked Gallipoli, or Breaker Morant it has the same feel. As far as a horse movie it is as good as it gets. I would strongly suggest you watch it before Sea Biscuit because after the Hollywood glitz of Sea Biscuit you may think Phar Lap is dull. I would also recommend that people READ Sea Biscuit before seeing the movie. It might be one of the best sports related books ever.
