Noreaga,

Just wondering why you think that Cleveland will be in the top 4? I think that after Miami, Indiana, and Detroit, everything else is up for grabs. How has Cleveland upgraded this offseason?

I follow Detroit mainly but I also follow Cleveland.

Cleveland lost Carlos Boozer in the offseason

They gained plenty of vets... here are some of the additions

Drew Gooden- is averaging 14 and 12 in the preseason
Eric Snow- great defensive PG/SG
Luscious Harris- solid perimiter shooter/ good defender
Robert Traylor / Scott Williams- role players whos only job is to rebound and defend
Luke Jackson- (draft) stretches the defense with his perimeter game.. very athletic.
Sasha Pavlovic- 21 year old who is deadly fromt he outside, traded 1st rounder for him.

Projected starting 5

PG- Jeff McInnis
SG- Eric Snow
SF- Lebron James
PF- Drew Gooden
C- Zydrunas Ilgauskus

Cleveland has the deepest bench in the East, with Detroit losing Okur, Williamson

I cant see how this team will finish worse than 4th in the east

I am by no means saying they will win the east (they could though) BUT this bet is set up to make major money scalping out come playoffs.

I like that thought process...

But they won't be higher than #5 though, thanx to re-alignment...

The 3 division winners get seeds 1-thru-3...

So we'll have:

1- Detroit
2- Miami
3- Atlantic winner (Philly, maybe?)
4- Indiana (best wild-card record)
5- Cleveland

rest don't matter...

So it's CLE at IND in the first round, with IND being a somewhat heavy favorite...

I see where you are going with this, but not sure if you anticipated this Indiana matchup in the first round, and I don't see any way around this first round matchup...

So what would be your betting strategy for the CLE/IND series?...

Just curious, because I was thinking about doing the same thing with Denver out West, thinking they are the third best team in that Conference, but will get the 4th seed for the playoffs and probably get Dallas in the first round...

Thanx...

Brewers,

I dont neccessarily agree that Indy is all that much better than Cleveland.. Cleveland had a much better offseason.. Indy stayed the same at best ( they did lose Harrington)

Last year, when Indy was clearly the better team they split 4 games with cleveland, 2 of the games were decided by 3 points, 1 game was decided by 1 point.

I dotn think Indy is a lock for #4, but lets assume that they do.. and cleveland is 5. Indy would not be a heavy favorite.. Its hard to predict how the season will play out but I couldnt see them better than a -175 favorite in that series, which still leaves a whole lot of room to scalp out the 18-1

I wouldnt scalp right away int hat series as I think it would be a close series... I think I would sit and wait.. hope cleveland takes command of the series..and if not.. I play Indy in elimination games.

Also, Jermaine O'neil, Jeff Foster, and Reggie Miller will start the year on the IL... I think Indy will have to dig out of a early season hole.

Indiana picked up Jackson. I also looked at Indiana future after the injuries occured but they are playing mush to start the season.

Cleveland looks weak to me. Drew Gooden sucks. He has proved that. Besides Snow who is going to play defense on that team? The big doof at center will get hurt this year, count on it. Lets not leave out one of the more inadequate head coaches in the biz, Paul Silas. He will hold them back just enough for the Cavs to lose the close games.

Chuck, their Center has played 2 and a half healthy years straight now.

Drew gooden will succeed in this system, He should average a double double.

Paul silas was actually ranked the best coach in the league as far as in gme adjustments go.. I will find the article for you.

but Chuck, I really think that if I told you the sky was blue.. youd argue and say it wasnt.

Noreaga...

I hope you are capping games in here...I'm new in here, but you are obviously very knowledgable and must be an asset in here...Be good to trade knowledge, perspectives & angles with you and others in here...

You could be right on the button with Cleveland...I watched Philly a lot and Eric Snow is very underrated...

I was fairly sure that you would "scalp" the Cleveland play in that manner, so I'd say that's not a bad idea, really...I think Denver would also be a good team to do it with, because I think they might possibly be the 3rd best team in the West...

Time will tell...

good luck to ya...
