Got NHL Network?
If you live in the U.S.....why not?

With more live game coverage than ever before, NHL Network today unveiled its U.S. broadcast schedule for the 2008-09 regular season. It includes 75 regular-season games, all in HD.

Highlighting the schedule is the inclusion of CBC’s award-winning Hockey Night In Canada, now available to U.S. fans through NHL Network for the first time. Every Saturday night, NHL Network will not only broadcast the live Hockey Night In Canada double-header, but also the CBC pre-game show Scotiabank Hockey Tonight and post-game show After Hours.

More details and complete broadcast schedule below.

Regular-season coverage on NHL Network gets underway in the U.S. on Saturday, Oct. 4 when the New York Rangers take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in Prague, Czech Republic and the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins meet in Stockholm, Sweden, in the Bridgestone NHL Premiere 2008™.

NHL Network is the first 24-hour network dedicated to the National Hockey League with unprecedented access to the most comprehensive hockey coverage both on and off the ice. In addition to live NHL games, NHL Network will broadcast live college hockey and the Memorial Cup. The network also airs post-game press conferences, special event programming on-location from NHL events such as NHL Winter Classic™, NHL All-Star weekend, NHL Entry Draft and the Stanley Cup™ Final and its signature daily live highlight show – NHL on the Fly – which airs nightly throughout the hockey season.

They start tomorrow at 8:00 am (pst) with their first "On the Fly" to set up tomorrow's openers.

Good stuff. I've been a Sirius sat. radio guy for a few years now and just upgraded tonight to the "best of XM" package and wow what a lineup they have talk show wise along with all the games. Hockey talk all day. I'm on the road most of my day with my radio and what a nice deal this is going to be. I'm stoked!

I switched over from Sirius to XM once I found out they had a 24/7 hockey station, (about a year and a half ago). As you said they have a tremendous lineup. I particularly enjoy "faceoff" that goes off at 3:00 pm (pst) and has some great information regarding that evening's games. Even though one of it's hosts, (Bommer Gordon), says he never bets on the games he takes a hard look at all the games with a prognosticators perspective. He spouts off pertinent trends, statistics, and reports on all the local media/blog columns. He does his homework with passion. Lots of material angled towards hockey pools/fantasy

The entire programing is replete with great interviews from insiders like Bob McKenzie, Darren Pang, Bill Clement, Andy Strickland, and many others that cover individual teams closely.

Look into buying a XM "nano" radio as it also has a mp3 function and holds up 5 hours of programming. The antenna is built into the unit so I can listen live or from recorded programing while doing my run or at my leisure.

I dont ive got HD NHL network?

My NHL network is not HD is it?

NHL Network is broadcast in HD. It's up to your cable/satellite provider to offer it in HD. Unfortunately my local cable company does not but you know I'll be on them to do so.

I have both Sirius and XM in my car. Just upgraded to the "Best of Sirius" package on XM so I don't have to switch back and forth to listen to Stern.

NHL on XM is good, I prefer CBC HNIC Radio on Sirius 122.

Is CBC HNIC a 24/7 hockey station?

No, unfortunately HNIC is only on from like 4pm to 8pm (or something to that effect), Monday through Friday.

I have to go into Brighthouse (cable provider) this Tuesday to pay my bill up and will be ordering the NHL Centre Ice at that time.

We have a 27" HD in our bedroom, but our 37" in the living room is non HD, though it's a damn good Sony.

SheBar insists our next major purchase is going to be a new mega-mattress setup for the bedroom, but right behind that, hopefully in November, will be the 48" HD for living room.

On another front, while at the sportsbar last night watching Rays game, we had some kind of Lightning broadcast going on one of the TVs above the bar. Did not pay much attention, but did remind Barman Jr that I was going to be putting the full sales presentation on him to convert him to pucks fan.

He remains skeptical, but I will follow counsel of my Puckster pals and get him out to see a few TBL games live versus Washington, Ottawa, Pitt etc

Will also see about getting him loaded at Betjam with $100 or so, allowing him to place wagers. And I'll of course feed him hot NHL wager opinions. Leading him down same path I trod back in the year 2000. When you have a bet on a game that's being broadcast, you of course try and watch it.

And the more you watch, the more you appreciate the sport as a whole.

Especially when you get the wraparound game winner with less than a minute to play....heh

Well, I have to say, after 2 days of XM hockey talk 24/7 i'm a bit disappointed. Although I either "missed" "faceoff" the last 2 days or it wasn't on....been listening the last 2 days nonstop and I have to say I was expecting more. Possibly it's because I finally tonight switched over to HNIC radio in Sirius and man is that ever refreshing compared to the repeating, repetitive, on the verge of boring talk I heard the last 2 days. I think Vic said it once last season....no one does hockey like HNIC does. Phil Esposito interviewing players just didn't cut it the last couple days. It's really almost like night and day comparing the 2. I see HNIC has added an hour or 2 this season which will be better than the 2 hours last year. I reserve the rest of my judgement once the season really begins and I get a chance to listen to the "faceoff" program. Only problem is it runs the same time as HNIC does. Anyone else with both services feel like I do?

I have never heard Sirus’ HNIC so I can’t compare it to XM programming but until the season starts I wouldn‘t be too quick to judge XM.

After listening to XM for almost two years now, (nearly everyday year round), I can give you a couple of reviews.

Phil Esposito doesn’t exactly own a rapier wit. For two years I’ve been listening to him and find myself saying, “What a buffoon”, more often than I’d like. Fortunately for Phil, intellect and playing hockey aren’t necessarily dependent on each other. I chose to avoid him whenever I can but do try to listen when he has Bill Clement on. I like Clement’s take on things and will suffer along with Phil’s Costello to hear Bill’s Abbott.

I noticed they didn’t have “Face Off” on today and instead repeated a interview they did this morning with Kevin Weekes. I believe it will be on tomorrow, (from 6-7 PM est), and certainly will be every Mon-Fri on that hour beginning Thursday.

Vic, sounds like maybe you havn't upgraded to the "best of Sirius". For anyone who does get Sirius...I just found another very good Hockey show on sirius 98.http://www.sirius.com/hardcoresportsradio

Al Strachan was on tonight talking about the waiver cuts.

In fact it looks like there's a lots of good shows on that station. Some of the guys in the Offshore forum were talking about the show at 10am est. Sportsmemo radio. They talk sport gambling every morning. Also a show at 6pm that covers all the games from a gamblers perspective.

lol...I worked for sportsmemo for a short time as a hockey tout three years ago. I was a big contributor to their forum for a couple years prior, put up some impressive numbers, and they offered me a position.

Bushay---I have to agree. I have both XM and SIRI, and IMO, HNIC on SIRI is head and shoulders above XM NHL. Better content, less hype and flair (sp?).

Unfortunately, I do not receive SIRI 98. Been having problems w/my antenna this past few days, so when I called SIRI, I also asked them about 98. Supposedly they "resent" the signal, but I think they are FoS. More interested in the morning capping show than anything else.

I really hate to dog them without really giving them much of a chance. [ And I WILL continue to listen everyday]. But I swear after awhile I was actually bored listening and turned the channel today. It was like they were getting 2nd hand information compared to what HNIC reports on their show. In fact I find myself rewinding my Stiletto all the time because I sometime miss bits and pieces of the show I really want to hear while on the phone or if someone's talking with me. The Kevin Weeks interview was a bit interesting because I had never heard him before and his stories about playing for the 3 NY area teams were interesting but...It was Kevin Weeks. The backup goalie of NJ. Big deal. Hnic is always pretty well up on current events.

Wow. Cool stuff. Did you operate under this handle or like a ghost writer/capper?
