Honeymoon is from April 17 to 27. Flying into San Jose.

Kinda overwhelmed with all the options. Seems like a ton of places to go from Whitewater Rafting, Canopy Tours, Volcano Tours, ATV tours, Playa Conchal, on and on.

I only have 10 days and dont want to be spread thin, running here and there. But I want to make her happy and do at least 3 things, like the Volcano, Horseback Ride, and ATV.

Is there just one or two places we can stay to get most of the tours in from the lodge. Or will we have to travel everyday to get this accomplished.

I want to relax and drink on the beach a couple days, too.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If any of you have any beach rentals let me know.

Congratulations on the wedding Pete...

I'm sure lots of fellow Costa Ricans will pitch in recommendations, but here are a couple of suggestions...

For Volcanoes, I recommend Volcan Arenal. It is active, and if the weather is on your side, you will SEE it spew lava all night long. If the weather isn't helping, meaning too many clouds blocking the view, you will still hear it ROAR, and can dip in the Natural Hot Springs.

Hotel I would recommend:Hotel Montaña de Fuego This is probably the best setting for you to spend time with your wife.

Other romantic places to spend time with the wife...

My dad goes there just for that reason.

Maybe drive from San Jose to the volcano for a 2 night stay then shoot over to the coast.

Calaluna looks nice, and the flights are decently priced to go back to San Jose.

Gonna try to go fishing one day too!

Thanks for the recs..

My advice to you is listen to RPM or if you want to take it a step further, don't get married!

Has any one been to Punta Leona? Looks like a central location and a nice beach.

My best advice is that while your wife is shopping. That you go by yourself to Hotel Del Rey. You will have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!

Punta Leona is a good option ... I went some two years ago... nice trails, and a white sand beach. Not a long drive from San Jose. They even have an all included special available now.

This shot is taken from their website... this is the white sand beach I'm talking about... beautiful isn't it?

I'm envisioning sitting under that tree with a bottle of rum and a fat cigar.

I would stay at the MARRIOT HOTEL near the airport...

They have lots of things to do there, including visiting some beautiful rain forests, amongst many other activities..

This is a very romantic atmosphere, the people are so kind and friendly, and your wife as well as you will love it...

Hey TICO,
Have you ever stayed at the Tabacón Resort?

Borat, thanks for the warning, but I wouldn't want to cheat with your wife.

Big Pete,

I would definately stay at Tabacon when going to Arenal. Cala Luna is an incredible place, each bungalow has its own pool. PLUS, there is a great golf course up there, Hacienda Pinilla. I would suggest heading Arenal, then to Cala Luna, then down to Manuel Antonio. If you like The Jungle Safari ride at Disneyland, I highly suggest Tortuguero. Very romantic atmosphere, in the middle of a rain forest and you can cruise the canals in a canoe or small boat. If you are thinking that is for you, I suggest Pachira(sp?) Lodge. Regardless, congratulations and best of luck in your future.
