Nurse at work says son is addicted and selling heroine, has warrants out for his arrest. States, "it's in Gods hands now!" The other nurse says maybe he needs some tough love. Mom says, "he needs support and love, God will take care of this" Other nurse says you are enabling. I somehow get asked into this and I just use an example of some religious beliefs do not Allow for blood transfusions which had lead to more court orders involving treatment. When we let God take care of sick children, the child dies then I got busy and took off. I'm sure these two will claw at each other for a year or so.

I wonder what I would do? I would like to think I would kick my son in the ass, but I'm not in that spot. Anyone had the rotten pleasure dealing with this? Do you let God take care of this, I think it's an easy way out not to deal with it

The nurse in question is a fool, enabler and a believer.

I don’t know which one is the worst.

Poor parenting.

"Tough love" should have happened a lot sooner in the kid's life.

it's not in God's hands, it's in your hands

you make the decisions you choose to make, not God

tell her to ask her priest or minister or rabbi or terrorist leader what he or she would do

indeed. Of course, don't know the history, going on very little information provided. BUT, mom turns to God twice- 'it's in God's hands now"................."he needs support and love, God will take care of this'? good grief, that's disturbing. Is she at wits end? A religious nut? a few French fries short of a Happy Meal?

God alone aint going to fix this problem, lady.

It is all about taking responsibility and neither the mother or the son are yet to step up to the plate. In the game of life you very seldom get a base on balls. Some people bunt just to get on base. Others can knock it out of the park upon occassion. But until you can learn to tell a ball from a strike an umpire will control the game. In this case neither are in control. Drugs and alcohol are tough on everyone involved, but if they are truly involved they should be actively seeking a solution to the problem. Intervention is necessary but not necessarily divine intervention.

Be a parent and act like one. Bottom line. As a Christian, she is completely wrong for putting it all on Religion. She should pray and ask for help, but you have to do your share.

Very much so, you know I'm not a religious guy but I will never shame those who are and again I hope I am dead wrong. I guess it's kind of an emotional dilemma in some ways. Different situation but remember a few years ago a teen here in minnesota had hodgkins that was completely treatable and mother refused treatment against husband and he had to eat out where they were after court order. That kid would most likely be dead now if medical didn't take over

As far as heroine, in this country and this is my opinion based on profession and personal. It's bad shit and if you think it's bad now, just wait. It's going to get much worse. I will admit I have no data but if more and more states allow for recreational pot it will lead to harder drugs. I don't think pot is worse than alcohol but I think the tolerance maybe or the productivity of youth will decline. This is already turning into a sit on your ass gamer world for kids and legalizing pot does no good, I will admit I've been drinking and going on tangent. When I was a kid the parks were full of UNORGANIZED football and baseball and shit we only have 2-3 months to do it. Now it's empty, might as well just have animal parks now. Our youth has been taught to be lazy by us with technology and recreational drug will make it worse jmo. Do you guys know of a lot of teens who did it habitually when you were young? I do, the guys who bonged it up every day are still doing it doing nothing to speak of for the most part, maybe that's because we freeze out assed off for 10 months here,

Close to Duluth, MN. I live in the sticks but this year has been cold, 40s and 50s. Thankfully I have a camper on a lake in Minong, WI, I spend just about every waking minute I'm not at work or playing ball there.

2 years ago we shattered record highs, 90s for almost 30 days straight which is unheard of for Lake Superior. 30s and 40s were common in January. Now last year we set a record for like 60 straight days of below zero weather. Now they are predicting another mild winter coming this year. Our Falls have been simply beautiful, if you like the change of leaves, hunting, and great fishing with a nice 60 - 70 in Sept and Oct this is the place.
