Glenn Beck An Embarrassment To Mormons–Perpetuates Harmful, Untrue Stereotypes

Glenn Beck, the right wing fringe commentator has not only embarrassed himself by calling President Obama a racist–he has embarrassed the Church and Mormons everywhere. In late July the firebrand exclaimed:
This president, I think, has exposed himself as a guy — over and over and over again — who has a deep seated hatred for white people or white culture, I don’t know what it is . . . I’m not saying he doesn’t like white people. I’m saying he has a problem, this guy is, I believe, a racist.
Of course the claim is nonsense, of the same genre as much of Rush Limbaugh’s hate speech, and that of Shawn Hanity. But, what makes Glenn Beck’s comments more harmful is that he claims he is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church does not need this type of publicity or association. Mormons everywhere ought to denouce the comments and Beck for making them. Why–because these comments perpetuate erroneous and harmful stereotypes of the Church and its membership. The post Proposition 8 media spin has already harmed the Church’s image painting Mormons who stood for religious principle as propagating hate and intolerance and being on the fringe. Glenn Beck’s comments only fuel that fire.

The more reasoned secular world is distancing itself from Beck’s ridiculous claims. Already advertisers are pulling their ads from his show–and rightly so. Mormons should do likewise. I, for one, as an active participant in the community of Saints denounce Glenn Beck, his comments, and the harm it does to the Church. With friends like Glenn Beck–the Church needs no further enemies.

Who cares what the Mormon church says?

That "church" is riddled with scandals and corruption since it's
inception by the charlatan Joseph Smith.

I'm highly doubtful that Beck is an active LDS based on his public behavior.

His primary reason to convert was because he wanted to bang his girlfriend, but she was a faithful LDS who would not give it up outside of marriage to another LDS member

He converted to help him get off the booze and drugs...

I use to drink a tonne and I've been really high but I've never been that drunk or high to join the mormons.

I kind of started to like Beck.

Until "it" happened.

When he was with CNN = he said our health care system sucks

Now that he is with FOX = We are going to lose the best health care system in the world!
(Actually ranked #37th just behind Costa Rica, but nice try Glenn)

Once I saw that, I was like oh he just saying what it takes to make that FOX brass happy.

Ah well, it's all about ratings and money I guess.

Do you honestly believe that Costa Rica has a better healthcare system than the United States?

another citation to a 9 year old study done by WHO, an organization that stopped doing the study because of the difficulties in obtaining data, the inconsistencies of the data, the different opinions of medical professionals in different counties...................................

throw in lots of subjectivity, like what variables to measure and how to weigh them and baddabing, you have essentially a worthless study. But it sure does sound good (or bad).

for example, because our system costs a lot of money, does that reflect poorly on the quality of health care? of course not. There are reasons why our system costs more money. We have health care a demand, we provide health care to elderly and terminally ill individuals most countries don't and we provide health care to 12 to 20 millions illegals. Somehow, these facts are made to work against our system, brilliant.

Should the facts that we have more obesity and and more drug use be used to bring down the ratings of our health care system? once again, of course not.

How about giving more weight to something a health care system can do something about, like curing illness. We're among the leaders in the world when you measure simple little objective stuff like that.

80% of Americans are happy with our system, once again one of the highest rated countries. Does that mean anything to anybody? While counties that have the least customer satisfaction are rated amonst the best in the world.

Typical left wing poppycock, it just makes no fucking sense.

IMHO, supporting, condoning and searching for reasons to justify infanticide makes you an embarrassment to mankind, but I digress.
