Yea the worst part is I dropped 20 units during a stretch I hit 52% my unit sizing has been off. I got to think about the units a bit more.

Money Management has always held me down. That is by far the hardest part of gambling on sports. How was your trip to the casino? My last two have been terrible.

Yea its not even money management. I learned that a while ago. It has just been like 2 units winning and 4 units losing. I haven't chased or gone real big or anything.

The casino was fun, as always. It was packed because of the tournament. I did well. I left the casino up which is always good news and managed to a little more then double what I walked in with. I was hoping for a nice long trip and hopefully catch the Syracuse game on Saturday. However, my 3 friends I went up with all went broke by Friday morning. They would just loan money to each other in a circle until it was all gone. I told them to hold out but they couldn't so we left.

I used to play poker for a living online and live. I still play quite a bit but sports betting has become my main concern. I won a few 100 rebuys in my year career as a poker player though, I got back from PCA in the bahamas last week.. tough beat on day 1 flopped the nut straight and some satelite noob shoves with bottom 2 pair and of course boats the river. Had a 5% of a good friend of mine that final tabled though, so it worked out :)

Ha, sounds like me at the casino. Last time I went I only brought 300 lost it in an hour. Took 300 more out of my bank lost 100 then clawed back to about 750 total before losing all that again before the night was over. Every time I go its a roller coaster ride that always ends down. :nohead:! Oh well. Best of luck on here tomorrow I'll be looking forward to your picks. I want to see you top that 50 mark before the conference tournaments.

I love poker. I would go pro but I have a buisness to run. I still try to play in the local games as much as possible. Granted, there only $200-$300 buy in games mostly but it is hard to find good higher stakes action around here. I stopped playing online though because it was way too easy to bum around and play online poker and watch sports all day. While that is a fun life, I needed some pussy and I needed to get wasted.

How was it playing pro?

Thats why I make it a point to go to the casino with only X amount of dollars and leave my cards all at home. Walk in the hotel room and lock $100 into the safe just in case things go wrong and I need to get home.

Otherwise, I may blow my whole fucking bank account if I get drunk.

Well put it this way, i bet sports for a living now, and compared to poker i live a carefree life, and we all know that sports betting is stressful as fuck.

When i played poker for a living, i would go through the sickest swings imaginable. Id be up 40k one month, then drop 30k the next. I finished 9 off the money in this years main event and i think that was the dagger for me. I had a good stack and had kk with a k56 2 heart flop, and i just couldnt fold the nuts... Well what do you know im up against aq of hearts with a big stack behind that hand... Heart on turn. GG me.

I made a decent amount of money doing it, and i still like to play the big live events every now and then, i just couldnt handle the stress of the beats you take each and every day as an online pro and live a happy life.

Anyone that is a good player can make a ton playing no matter the beats its just the people that can handle the lack of social life, and terrible stress that actually make it as an online pro, and that wasnt me. I honestly wouldnt reccomend that life to anyone unless all you care about is money. Id much rather bet on sports and get to do what i want when i want rather than ever go through the torture of playing 10 tables at a time and 15 hours per day of poker.

I like to keep about 10-15k online just for the wcoop and ftops and the big sunday tourneys, but i doubt i ever go back to playing all the time every day.

I played mostly mtts 50 rebuy and higher, but dabbled with 5-10+ Nl cash. Did ok in that making about 3 bbs per 100 hands over about 10k hands total.

I play cash live here in stl quite a bit but the biggest game we usually get is 2-5 nl 1k max buy in (Thanks to the new law that got rid of the loss limit). But it is pretty profitable, a lot of bad players here in stl.

Poker is A hobby for me now, i dont put the hours in anymore, and with internet poker booming the way it is, i wouldnt be suprised if i was a little behind the learning curve as far as cash games go. I still think i can hold my own in tourneys though, have a lifetime roi of about 120%

Would you please give an online newbie a few of your pointers? I am playing 1t SitNGos, mtts, and cash games, both limit and NL on FTP. I am losing my ass even when dropping to lower levels. In local live games I win more than I lose and thought I was a decent player. What do you consider a good percentage of flops to see. I am usually around 30%. Do you ever play H/L split games. I like Omaha H/L. What about Razz? Thanks and gl.

I started a new money management system a couple of weeks ago. I read a post in the Hockey forum from a guy who hasn't reloaded his gambling accts in years.

What he does is bet around 2-2.5% of his bankroll on each play. Each day he adjusts the % based on his balance. When you hit a cold streak you are lowering your stakes down and preventing a bankroll collapse. You also are not betting more and chasing like most gamblers do.

Conversely when you are winning, each day your stakes will be raised to reflect the higher bankroll. I have been sticking to this MM system and like how it is working.

Good call on the UI vs. OSU game. The Illini have trouble rebounding and teams with strong interior play usually score on them pretty easy. On the flip side, the Illini shoot well from mid-range and from 3 point land so the Bucks interior D (which is their strength) won't effect the Illini very much. Good luck!!
