I should preface by saying that I am a student at Notre Dame so I'm naturally on this play with you. I got it a Pick Em on Bookmaker just as the line opened. I can't believe how quickly that moved.
Rebounding. Harangody and Hillesland both average more rebounds then the leading rebounder on Georgetown. Georgetown uses team rebounding which won't work when someone needs to body up Harangody.
I'll be honest. I haven't watched much Georgetown but I think rebounding in this tough Big East conference is going to be the Achilles heel for this team. Harangody's not a true center and he needs another big man to help him out on the boards. Hillesland's a tough little player (he's got a nice black eye going right now) and provides some assistance but we need someone to step up and help out Harangody. Zeller and Ayers are huge pussies who just sit around the perimeter waiting to take threes. They're useless on the boards--against St. John's the most productive thing they did was put on their uniform.
Notre Dame can match Georgetowns versatility and depth. Georgetown has 4 solid players who can score. Notre Dame matches up great with them with Jackson, Ayers, K-Mac, and Harangody.
Experience. No one on this Georgetown squad has been to South Bend and considering it is a very tough place to play and also shoot at. Having not played thier before it may take some time to get comfortable shooting.
I agree with these two points. Mark my words--Tyrone Nash will have a big day off the bench. The JAC is a very tough place to play--no one has won there since Holtz was the football coach. Slight exaggeration but they do have a 40something game home winning streak going on, although if you look at the schedule, it will certainly be tested this year.
Unfortunately the Wigs decided to schedule this game when the students are still on break. I'm seriously pissed about this. The JAC will still be packed as there are enough fans in South Bend and Chicago but you won't have the Irish Legion student section there rocking the building. Luckily, we will be there for the Connecticut game.
Harangody. No one will be able to stop him from scoring tonight. He will have his way on the glass and on the offensive end.
When he gets going, Harangody plays like a man on fire. At the St. John's game, Coach Brey had to sit him for a little to cool him down. If the other players can match his intensity, then we'll win this going away.
I think Georgetown is a middle of the pack Big East team while ND is a sweet 16 caliber team and with the right match-ups a Final 4 team.
I think ND gets a double digit win tonight atleast.
Let's hope. Help gain some momentum for the UConn game in a few days.
