Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the country's Supreme Court ruled yesterday.
The court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare.
The airlines had lost an appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal in May and had sought to launch a fresh appeal at the Supreme Court.
The court's decision not to hear a new appeal means the one-person-one-fare policy stands.The appeal had been launched by Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and WestJet.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So because YOU decide to eat like crap and have a tendency to be overweight but not care enough to be proactive about it and CHOOSE to be a fat ass, you now have a disease? How uncomfortable for you to sit next to someone so large they need two seats. Where are your rights?
And I also don't consider alcoholism a disease. It's an addiction. If you chose to drink, then too damn bad my friend. People don't choose cancer or heart disease. The CHOICE to be a lazy fat ass or drink to addiction is not a damn disease.
I smoke and am now addicted. Do I have nicotine disease? Can get a free something now? Where's my pity party?
