Just wanted to share that Geppi, the dog that is and was the inspiration for my avatar and was our friend and companion for almost 18 yrs fell off our deck today injuring his spinal cord and paralyzing his back legs. He had to be put down. He was a faithful companion, loved and will be extremely missed. He was a little dog (20#) that took on racoons, opossums, and other critters to protect me/us without regards for his own safety and at the expense of shots and infection. He was the type of dog that would have guarded you or your body until he felt things were right.

He was a PSU fan and they will remember him tomorrow with a big win.

I honestly got a little choked up reading that. Dogs are great pets and it's very difficult when one passes away. I'm deeply sorry for your loss man.

I feel for you Geppi!

Last summer Fluppy the toy poodle fell off my boat into the river with strong current, I was able to fish her out with a net, she drank lots of water.

Thought she was alright, but a couple of hours later, while driving back home she went limp in the truck. We pulled into a McDonald's and I gave her CPR trying to get air into her lung but she didn't make it either.

Dogs are great, loyal animals. That's why it baffles me what goes on in black culture with all the dog fighting.

It just shows how fragile and precious all life is and how we need to make the most of each day. We need to look beyond the frivolity and realize what relationships mean to us so we can make the most of those moments. As humans we tend to put an emphasis on the wrong things; we should all have a dog's mentality and forgiveness in our relationships. You could scream, yell, punish and even beat a dog and he/she will forgive you and come back and lick your hand. Truly God's creatures; makes you wonder who was really made in His likeness.

This is our 2nd dog we lost in 1.5 yrs; the other one was a sweet little Maltese, Appolonia (yes after the Michael Correlone's first wife in Italy from the Godfather). She was unbelievable.

Tbone I can't imagine going through that trauma either. Thanks for sharing and its been a long time since we spoke. God be with you.

P.S. Stop fucking smoking...........I had a heart attack at 36 which they attributed to Marlboro and FYI the Marloboro man is dead from lung cancer....the other brands offer no special discounts on life expectancy.

I don't smoke. I should've never gotten this screen name lol.

But about dogs it is especially sad to see them go. They go from being fine one year to not being able to function the next and it's sad to see them like them especially a pet that you had growing up.

It's hard to go through, yet I have 2 other new dogs less than 2 yrs old. They helped keep the old man Geppi going after his best friend Appi died. It's never easy losing them and your're right it's a hard decision to give them the injection.

Been there...I had to put my English Bulldog down a few years back...It's amazing how your animal can turn a bad day around with just a wag of the tail...I'll always have a dog in my life...Now I have Bandit(an Akita)...Sorry for your loss Geppi
