So this is the government that Bush/McCain supports? Yes because of the oil pipeline running through the country.

Georgian soldiers were shooting down women, old people and children in South Ossetia 11 августа 2008

Georgian soldiers were shooting down women, old people and children in South Ossetia. Eight populated areas were wiped off from the face of the earth. Their defenders fell during Georgian aviation attack. As witnessed by Ilona Djioeva, resident of Dmenis village, “Georgian war- civilians’ houses and then the village was entered by soldiers who shot up old people, women and children”.
“We managed to get to the positions of the Russian peace-making contingent and they helped us to get to a safe place. Georgian shot down escaping people; the wounded were shot through the head. Only a few people survived. Russian soldiers helped us to get out of it.
Now my mother and I are going to Mozdok region, which is in Ossetia. We don’t know anything about my brother. He works in Tskhinval militia” – told IA Regnum correspondent, a 19 year old student.

It's not because of the pipeline. It's because the gov't of Georgia is a puppet regime that licks western butt. That's why the pipeline was put there in the first place.

This Mikheil Saakashvili might be the most laughable leader of a so-called country in recent history. All he utters is the democracies of the world have to stand with him, the Russians are up to their usual tricks ranting about tactics of 40 years ago in the Prague Spring. He never stops ranting, can't be interupted. The same thing over & over again carrying on like a histerical women. Anyone who wants an ally like this sophmoric fool ought to have their head examined!

You won't get many credible news reports out of that place.

The Russkie ones will be a joke, and you'll have to do some serious searching to glean between the lines as far as our own side is concerned.

In the USA most of the media is run by joos, who aint exactly Pootin/Russias bestest buddies.

It's hard to say who's credible. I don't pay attention to any American media, so I don't know what the claims from the US viewpoint are. Russians have their own interests to protect and it's certainly possible that they provoked the war as the Georgian president claimed.
My favorite news source is the BBC because they always remain objective on everything they report (though the stories they choose to highlight may not be objective). I used to read the NY Times in college everyday, but I gave it up after a few weeks because they overwhelming commie bias in it would always give me a headache.
