1. What if Georgia's #1 Oline and Left Tackle Trinton Sturdivant did not go down and lost for the season back in August?
2. What if Georgia's #1 Defensive Tackle Jeff Owens did not go down and lost for the season earlier this month?
3. What if Georgia's #1 Defensive End, Rod Battle was not out injured during the Bama game.
4. What if Georgia's #1 outside LB Dannell Ellerbe was not injured in the first series against Bama?

You take those 4 guys away it would be like Bama losing LT Andre Smith, DT Terrence Cody, DE Greenwood, and LB Corey Reamer. How would Bama perform without those 4 guys?

Injuries are really starting to take their toll on this team. I am not making any excuses for the ass-whoopin' we got handed to us on Saturday, because Bama came out and showed their toughness.

I just hope that the season doesn't start to get away from us. Thank goodness we have a bye this week, because it would be a sad sight to see the team that we would put on the field....

  • Knowshon Moreno - "Questionable" for UT with an elbow injury.
  • Dannell Ellerbe - "Hopeful" and "Questionable" were used to describe him playing against UT.
  • Tripp Chandler - Will miss "a few weeks" with shoulder injury
  • Bruce Figgins - Will either have surgery before or after the UT game
  • Kris Durham - Ankle. Out for UT and probably a bit longer.
  • Matthew Stafford - Basically fine.
  • Brannon Southerland- Full speed for UT
  • Kiante Tripp - Moved to backup Tight End

Not a bulldog fan, but I would imagine it would not have been 31-0 at halftime had those guys played.....

Furmanski we are beat up pretty good.

Moreno: Will Play
Ellerbe: Not sure time will tell

Chandler: Gone for a few weeks
Figgins: Gone for the year
Durham: High ankle sprain could be gone for a month or so
Stafford: Good to go
Southerland: Will play against UT
Tripp: Back up OT now being moved to TE because our starting TE weighs less than 225lbs

Basically Georgia was ranked #1 based on having the guys in the first post. You can't lose 2 of your top 4 players (Sturdivant and Owens) on the team and not expect a drop off. The game of football is won in the trenches.

Georgia's Defensive ends will see a upgrade when Battle gets back for the Tennessee game. The DE's were nonexistent in the Bama game. They had one tackle combined and no sacks.

Back to Ellerbe being out in the first series. His replacement, Akeem Dent, who is a huge drop off, got the hands to the face penalty on Wilson on the first drive, that nullified the fumble recovery by Georgia. If that fumble had stood, that is a completely different ball game.

The future looks bright for Georgia, with Sturdivant, Owens, and upgrades at DE coming, namely Toby Jackson. Next year looks like a real shot at National title hopes. This year it was just unrealistic with the losses on the line of scrimmage and the inexperience there.

I think it will also depend on whether Stafford comes back. Obviously I would love to have Moreno back as well, but I dont see that happening. Logan Gray or one of the true freshman won't have the same playcalling or playmaking ability that Stafford has.

I am still optimistic about the rest of the season, if we can grow up on the lines in the next couple of weeks.

You will be fine against Tennessee. Play your back ups. They will do great.

If Stafford leaves, I expect Aaron Murray to be in the qb hunt as a true freshman. I'm not sold on Cox, he kind of bores me at qb. Not sure about Logan Gray, he has a lot of athletic ability, and I have never seen a backup qb returning punts!

If Moreno leaves, Caleb King will have to pick up the slack, with Samuel. The player that will be exciting at tailback is Carlton Thomas, who is redshirting this year.
