....the table is hot and everyone has loads of money out there. Everyone is winning like hell. Out of the blue some Granny comes up and wants to bet $1 on any seven. The guys are pissed off and like "here's $100 get the hell out of here"!! Of course you know what comes right after that. "I won I won, it's my birthday, I won!!". Today I need the Cards BADLY and my nephew is rooting in the Cubs so he has a chance at his $5 3-team parlay. What a joke!! Of course I am up 5-0 and end up losing but that is to be expected. I love the little guy and he didn't know how bad I wanted the Cards but damn that pisses me off to lose the game and hear him laughing and yelling in happiness. Sorry guys had to vent somewhere he couldn't hear me....

I will pull all stops out though in making sure he doesn't hit this $5 parlay if it breaks me.

I hear ya Pat.. Last year I almost knocked the crap outta my brother, He lost the first game of his 3 team NFL parlay yet he continued to cheer for the other two teams even though he knew I had action on the other sides...

Irritating as hell isn't it Big Ragu, especially when they say something like "you won you are up 5-0, it's over!" Of course it's only the 2nd inning when they say it. You can almost count on losing when that happens....

Anyway anybody remember the name of that movie? My wife says it was real popular but I don't think I ever saw the whole movie....

I don't see myself as a superstitious person, but I have seen many instances where someone calls a game early and for whatever reason they jinx themselves or others. An interesting spin on this would be a story I have recounted many times on another site. During the NHL season I occasionally head out and catch a game involving the LEAFS at any local bar with a friend who is a diehard fan. During the last two years we have watched 14 games of which Toronto has Lost 13 and tied 1. It became so bad that he was determined to break the jinx and called me to have a beer and watch a game that the Leafs were up 5-0 at home, and as god is my witness no sooner had we sat down the Leafs forgot how to skate and actually lost 6-5 in OT I believe. The square that I am, it actually took me about 6-7 games to realize I was onto something good.

Anyways superstitious or not, I would rather watch a game alone or with a mute to avoid the frustration of a hard beat loss.

Pat-
You are to good to get emotional.
Take a night off, screw the hunny, have a few beers and shake it off buddy.
Good luck and great run

Pat...think the movie you're talking about is a 70s movie called California Split with Elliot Gould and George Segal directed by Robert Altman. That's a classic scene.Pretty good gambling movie that I need to see again.

Am I the only one that takes down their bets when the dice go off the table?

>when the dice go off the table

Me Too... I've found that a seven will come right after about 6/36 times.

Fat Frank,

I'll actually be on the East Coast on a mandatory business trip. I really wanted to meet everyone but I like eating and having a roof over my head so I"ll make the meeting. I promise to be at the next one though. If there was anyway to be there I would, if not just to room with Jen and Susie ( that's if JoeyC doesn't come through for them )
