WC posted something or another about "higher forces" being involved in the ASU/LSU game and thinking the same thing myself, I had to laugh when I read that. OK.. picture this.. you are an ASU booster say a month or 2 before the season and here is your bedtime prayer: Lord, please bring pestulance and flood to the LSU side. Make it a major hurricane, why not. Make it so the LSU players are worried about their friends and families' homes in the area so they are distracted. Don't let them practice normally for a couple of weeks before the game. Make Baton Rouge a center for hurricane refugees and make their athletic department part of the emergency medical facilities. Make it so messed up there that they are obliged to move the game here. Amen. (PS.. also see if you can cancel their opener the week before so they will be good and rusty for this one... and one more thing... their game with Tennessee the following week, leave that one alone so it's on their minds please.)

All that aside, this game has been circled in the ASU clubhouse for over a year. This is ASU's opportunity to be noticed by the BCS. This is why they took this game in the first place. This is what they've been waiting for for years. When the game opened at ASU+9 I was readying myself for a bit of ML action along with a nice side wager. But, it's lost a lot of steam since then with all the hoopla and ceremonious attention, not to mention the change of venue and the understandable line move. But I was very close to convinced that this one was headed for a straight up dog victory to begin with. Now add some devine intervention to "tilt" the scales for the Sun Devils at home and it's still a bet. It seems to me that "higher forces" could have already mailed this one in. It seems that way. Say what you wish about Dirk Koetter as a coach but LSU's new coach, Les Miles really has his hands full himself, especially without a bonafide starting QB this late in the game. I think the Sun Devils will gut this one out in the end and there will be bedlum in Tempe when it's over.

The name of this game will be defense. And I like LSU's a lot better. The Sun Devils are 6-14 ATS as a dog under HC Koetter. I've heard it all about the hurricane distractions this LSU team has faced. But if I know Miles he'll have his team very focused with that extra week off. LSU is deep. I believe they'll play it close to the vest in the first half and then wear Arizona St. down with their excellent running game in the second half. LSU wins this by at least 10 points.

This is a game i see alot of people wanting to play. I will leave it alone. There is no way to predict how 18-20yr old kids will do handling the hurricane situation. Yes LSU is loaded and should dominate against a slower less physical school. But your right. Arizona st has this circled, and !!!! What NOONE is talking about. They are a dark horse national champion. If they win this, they should easily run the table until they get USC. And with confidence of beating LSU? They could win that game. So yes Arz St looks like the play with Tenn on deck and Katrina. But i cant say to play them, cause with everything going on down there, no way are they looking at Tenn next week. There probably happy to go on the road like Les Miles said, to get some time away. Thats why I would stay away, theres other games to make $ on.

Thought you guys might appreciate my perspective on this.....if not, then flame away.

If you think Arizona State has this game circled, then you HAVE to realize that LSU has it circled as well. This team is ready to pound sand into someone's ass, and the Sun Devils are being portrayed as the Team that doesn't want to fulfill their trip to the great state of Louisiana. Trust me on this, the Sun Devils will not have a motivational advantage.

There is NO QB contraversy at LSU. There is a clear starter (Jemarcus Russell), whether it has been announced to the oppenent's coach or not.

YES, our next game is against Tennessee.....but it ain't next week. That game is in TWO weeks, so we'll have plenty of time to prepare for the ass-beating the Vols are begging for.

LSU is more talented at every single position, with an emarassment of speed. By the way, doesn't Az. State utilize a "fast track" type of field? Unless I'm mistaken, I understand that they cut the grass REAL short to take advantage of their speed.......uh oh.

We will run their balls right off on offense, and take the ball away from them on defense.

LSU 42 - 17

Balls to th' wall!!!

Every qoute I've heard outta the LSU players mouths is how this game is for the home state folks and how pumped up they are to bring some relief & smiles to the faces of all their fans & families that have suffered so much.

Take that & the fact that playing in Tempe this time of year is much easier than in LSU country with all the freakin humidity.

ASU ain't no desert swarm no more.

I was all over ASU plus the points before the venue change - but I just can't play it now. ASU looks like the play as I think LSU is overrated a tad, but it's just a tough game to pick. Will definitely be a fun game to watch. :toast:

One of the big reasons I liked ASU even when the line came out at first was because they have a VASTLY improved defense this season, at least on paper... but they looked great in their opener, albiet vs a nobody. They did what they should have done and that's all that can be expected. You gotta add in the noise factor too which isn't something LSU was supposed to have against them. Sun Devil Stadium will be rockin off it's foundation every time ASU makes a good play. LSU had better control the ball all game long or the fans will let them have it constantly. If this turns into a defensive struggle, I'd be very surprised, however defense will play a big part in this game... all the better for ASU to keep it close. This one should come down to the last quarter and if the Sun Devils are serious, they will gut it out like I said. LSU is deep but so are the Sun Devils this season. To me, this game is about calling the SU winner and I like ASU's edge more than at first after all that's happened the past 2 weeks. Big teams have so far fallen by the wayside this season and I think that trend continues.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHH....you're killing me. Are you freaking serious? There is NO, I repeat NO Pac-10 crowd that will intimidate an SEC team.....much less LSU. I'm certain that there will be 56,000 wild men rooting for the Sun Devils, and I know they'll have a lot to cheer about, but come on......the guys on LSU's team have played in environments that are TEN times more hostile than Tempe, Arizona.

Good luck on your play Conan, should be great tomorrow night to be able to flip back & forth between LSU/ASU and Texas/Ohio St games .... have to admit I don't know much about Arizona St, believe they beat Iowa last year right?? LSU does have that scary speed factor though & hurricane style motivation. BTW in the Big 12 I'm liking Missouri -11 tomorrow to take out a New Mexico team on somewhat short rest, Tigers should roll by 3 TD's IMO. Good luck tomorrow to all.

Nice work Pags. It was a short week for me having little time to devote but I really didn't like this board very much.

Wash/Cal I don't like because there's just too much up in the air for the Bears, QB situation and all. Ayoob went 0-10 off the bench last week. Then there's Washington's defense, about the only thing that may keep them in this one. As a team, they looked TERRIBLE vs. AF and I'm not ready to put my faith in TY W. this soon... not really sure if I would have much confidence in him anyway. At least he's good for team discipline.

Stanford/Navy I'm afraid people underestimate Navy who has played everyone and their mother so they won't be the least bit intimidated. I don't know exactly what Stanford's new coach has accomplished thus far either.

Oregon St. vs. Boise... I really HOPE that the Beavers can make a statement, but vs. a team that was undefeated in 04, I can think of better spots than this one to take any action.

UCLA/Rice... I have to say I like UCLA here but which UCLA team will show up Saturday? They should mow right through Rice but then again, too much sushi can be constipating.

That brought it all down to ASU vs. LSU for me. Now here's where some chutzpah will make the difference and it's just a simple call on the winner in this one. (And yes, ASU has speed... lots of it.)

Let me correct the 2nd paragraph...

Wash and Cal.. I don't like either. There's just too much up in the air for the Bears, QB situation and all. Ayoob went 0-10 off the bench last week. Hard to predict what he can do because rumor on the street says he hasn't learned Tedford's system too well.

Then there's Washington's defense, about the only thing that may keep them going. As a team, they looked TERRIBLE vs. AF and I'm not ready to put my faith in TY W. this soon... not really sure if I would have much confidence in him anyway. At least he's good for team discipline. Reno got beat by who last week? Devastated? They're not supposed to be that bad at home but let's see what WU can do before laying that many points against anybody.

If Nick Saban was coaching this LSU squad I have no problems playing LSU. But neither of these coaches are in the top 20 of CFB coaches. Myles is still unproven and taking over a new team that most of the staff remains. Dirk is an idiot who does not know how to manage a game. When he's played teams with good defenses (CAL, USC, ect) he's been outcoached. With that being said, I think both teams move the ball and it goes way, way over the total. The real play is OVER the total. ASU does not play UNDERS at home. As for the crowd, not sure but I know Sun Angel foundation subsidized the tickets to bring the prices down so hopefully their will be a sellout. One can only hope. Unlike last years game with Iowa where a number of Iowians live in the valley, not sure the same can be said for LSU Backers.

Some last minute memoirs...

LSU was within any one of 3 missed PAT's of being beaten by OSU last year was it? Now isn't that kid Saban, the Beaver's kicker off the hit list by now?

Well ASU shouldn't be wanting for just a PAT here because they got more in the till than the Beavers did when they nearly whupped the Tigers, IMHO.

These Pac teams just get no respect at all.

Conan, they never learn my brother....not even worth debating any more. Nice to see the Beavers fight it out and win...Zambrasky is the most overrated QB in the country.
