WC posted something or another about "higher forces" being involved in the ASU/LSU game and thinking the same thing myself, I had to laugh when I read that. OK.. picture this.. you are an ASU booster say a month or 2 before the season and here is your bedtime prayer: Lord, please bring pestulance and flood to the LSU side. Make it a major hurricane, why not. Make it so the LSU players are worried about their friends and families' homes in the area so they are distracted. Don't let them practice normally for a couple of weeks before the game. Make Baton Rouge a center for hurricane refugees and make their athletic department part of the emergency medical facilities. Make it so messed up there that they are obliged to move the game here. Amen. (PS.. also see if you can cancel their opener the week before so they will be good and rusty for this one... and one more thing... their game with Tennessee the following week, leave that one alone so it's on their minds please.)
All that aside, this game has been circled in the ASU clubhouse for over a year. This is ASU's opportunity to be noticed by the BCS. This is why they took this game in the first place. This is what they've been waiting for for years. When the game opened at ASU+9 I was readying myself for a bit of ML action along with a nice side wager. But, it's lost a lot of steam since then with all the hoopla and ceremonious attention, not to mention the change of venue and the understandable line move. But I was very close to convinced that this one was headed for a straight up dog victory to begin with. Now add some devine intervention to "tilt" the scales for the Sun Devils at home and it's still a bet. It seems to me that "higher forces" could have already mailed this one in. It seems that way. Say what you wish about Dirk Koetter as a coach but LSU's new coach, Les Miles really has his hands full himself, especially without a bonafide starting QB this late in the game. I think the Sun Devils will gut this one out in the end and there will be bedlum in Tempe when it's over.
ASU-1.5/LSU
