Clintonista Admits Dems Rooting for Terrorists

A senior Clinton administration national security official offered a stunning admission this week, confessing during a national television interview that Democrats are secretly rooting for the Bush administration's war of terrorism to fail.

In comments largely overlooked by the mainstream press, former Clinton National Security Council member Nancy Soderberg discussed the recent outbreak of democracy in the Middle East with "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart.

"As a Democrat, you don't want anything nice to happen to the Republicans, and you don't want them to have progress," Soderberg observed, before quickly adding, "But as an American, you hope good things would happen."

However Soderberg quickly undermined her own caveat, noting: "It's scary for Democrats, I have to say."

After noting that the U.S.'s stunning foreign policy success followed the toppling of one of the three members of the axis of evil, Soderberg suggested again that the more success America has in defeating global terrorism, the worse it is for her party.

"Well, there's still Iran and North Korea, don't forget. There's still hope for the rest of us ... There's always hope that this might not work."

Only OpinionJournal.com, the Washington Times and Rush Limbaugh reported the former Clinton official's outrageous remarks.

Ms. Soderberg appeared on the "Daily Show" to promote her new book: "The Superpower Myth: The Use and Misuse of American Might." Editor's note:

Answer this ...

are their any two people in the WORLD that have gained more power than REPUBLICANs, George "my pet goat" Bush and Rudy "police torture" Guiliani?

If this ain't the Klan calling the hoodsman a racist, then I don't know what is.

Interesting how you pick one halfwit out of a party and paint the whole party with that brush. BTW the Wall Street Journal had essentially the same article the only difference is they didn't cull the juicy parts and print them. The whole transcript was there to read.
I understand the Dems dilemma though because if things go bad in the ME bush and friends just do the happy talk routine and the gullible American public eats it up. Or things go well and the bushies tout every little thing good as somehow the product of the bush doctrine. It's a no win situation for Dems.
I'm glad things are going well in the ME, but I would think the right, after the "Mission Accomplished" fiasco, would be a little more reserved.
Like they say to the rooks "act like you've been there before".

I am trying to keep up with the number of Homosexual reporters the Bushies have planted in the White House press corp to lob softballs to King George ...

Lets talk reality ... if Clinton was in charge, how many Republicans would be doing the same commentary? A ton of em and ya know that the truth hurts

ELKO - The controversy over Rep. Jim Gibbons' speech at Elko's Lincoln Day dinner was splashed onto the screens of television viewers across the nation Thursday night.

Nevada Democratic Party spokesman Jon Summers appeared on FOX News' Hannity & Colmes show to discuss the congressman's remarks.
Gibbons' speech last Friday, which strongly backed the American forces battling the war on terrorism and condemned anti-war activists, has stirred up a national furor.

Summers, in his comments on the cable news debate program, touched on the issue of "human shields" contained in Gibbons' speech.

"Jim Gibbons came out and he said anyone that opposed this administration's policy - and anyone that disagreed with him - ought to be used as human body armor," Summers said.

Elko County Commissioner John Ellison, who attended the Lincoln Day dinner, said Summers twisted Gibbons' comments.

"He did not make those accusations ...," Ellison said. "Gibbons' comments were not directed at Americans who privately have concerns regarding the war, but at outspoken liberal celebrities trying to undermine the troops fighting for this nation."

In his speech, Gibbons noted that some anti-war activists had said they wanted to go to Iraq and become human shields for the enemy.

"I say it's just too damn bad we didn't buy them a ticket," Gibbons said.

Summers said this morning he stood by his comments on Gibbons' speech during the television show.

"That was the point he was making," Summers said. "That was the message he delivered in that speech."

During the program, Summers said Gibbons' speech had been plagiarized from Alabama State Auditor Beth Chapman.

Sean Hannity said that was an allegation.

"It has already been reported on in the Nevada press," Summers countered. "In fact, by the newspaper that broke the story to begin with."

Hannity said he would not allow Summers to "make allegations" without Gibbons being there to respond.

Summers continued to repeat his charge that Gibbons stated anyone who did not agree with the war should be used as human armor, until Hannity cut him off, calling him "a broken record."

Alan Colmes recalled an earlier comment from Gibbons that those who opposed corporate donations to President George W. Bush's inauguration were communists.

"After that story was reported on, Jim Gibbons and his staff came out and said the communist quote was taken out of context," Summers said. "The speech that he gave in Elko, Nevada, a few days ago was very well documented by the local newspaper up there and there is no way that he can come back and use the excuse that this was taken out of context."

Ellison said he did not believe Gibbons remarks were partisan in nature.

"To me he was not on a direct attack against the Democratic Party," he said.

Ellison said Gibbons was caught up in the atmosphere of the Lincoln Day dinner.

"He was tied up to the excitement of what Lincoln would have done if he had been here today," Ellison said.
