I'd like to think I have a pretty good pulse on my team so if you're not too familiar with the Giants, please don't go off last year or even the past few years.

I'm telling you this is a very different team.

As far as the game goes -- I think the Giants are the better overall team. Both potent offenses so that's a wash but I think the key here is the improved Giants defense. Not only is the pass rush improved but the secondary is no longer just DRC. Jenkins shut Dez down last game and the rookie Apple looks as NFL ready as one can be. The safeties FS Berhe & SS Collins pack a nasty punch -- not great in coverage but they make you pay. The rookie Darian Thompson is actually the starter(didn't start against Dallas coming off injury) and he's looked the part thus far. Big test against Brees & co.

I wouldn't put much stock into what the Giants offense did against a bad Cowboys defense because #1 it was a divisional matchup, #2 the cowboys have the best OL in the league so they dominated the TOP, Dak didn't overly impress but he didn't make many mistakes and given the time to throw he moved the chains. Giants only scored 20 points but we were 3 for 3 in the red zone.

We also get our kicker Josh Brown back from suspension this week so that should stabilize our special teams. I don't imagine he will miss an extra point like Bullock(released).

For what it's worth I put $575/500 on the Giants wk 1. Nail biter like most NYG/DAL divisional games are regardless.

I'm thinking a $200 bet would be appropriate for this game and the over intrigues me but I'm not sure yet. Weather conditions could play a part but I don't think so. Eli plays very well in driving rain. I'm just wondering if the Saints muster up enough points.

My prediction is something like
Giants 38
Saints 24

BOL to everyone.

Saints are inconsistent. They will score some points but I believe the Giants -4.5 or -5 is the right side here. Saints have a Atlanta on deck. Not really a look ahead spot but I dont see the Saints doing much this year. Good luck.

Nice read, just one question:
JPP, the best Giants pass rusher being highly questionable after not practicing two days in a row, doesn't scare you? I know that Dallas has a way better O-line than the Saints, but the Saints did a good job in week1 vs a supposedly strong front 7 from OAK and like you said, Prescott was giving pretty much all day to throw in week1.
I'm actually leading towards the team total over on the Giants.

I read him not practicing was just a veteran being smart early in the season and taking a few days off after feeling soreness in his shoulder. Both he and Vernon are playing. JPP said himself he's not worried and that he'll be out there. We have enough depth upfront with Owa/Wynn/Okwara but I'm not worried about our pass rush. We have the secondary to match New Orleans offense. They don't have the secondary to match ours.

I think that will be the biggest difference in this game.

Ok, just read JPPs comments on his status for Sunday :103631605
The secondary looked really good in week1, so if they get decent pressure up front, they should match up well. Totally agree with you that Beckham/Shephard/Cruz looks like a huge mismatch, especially with the Saints losing Breaux in week1.

Best of luck with your bet(s) (

Saints are going to use Sterling Moore. He is probably one of a few that shut down OBJ last year. I dont think it will mean much but he knows the Giants offense since he was with Dallas for 3 years.

Slight lean Giants, too. I think there's too good of a chance that Brees keeps it close. No bet for me but best of luck to both sides. Thanks for the post.

Big Saints fan here/season ticket holder. I don't even know "which team" that will show up on Sunday. I agree with pretty much everything you said, except that the offenses are about even. I believe Saints have an edge there, especially if the O-line plays as well as it did last Sunday. Now the Giants will most likely score more points, but that because we can't get any pressure on the QB and we don't have a CB left that can cover. Hopefully Moore can help us some.

I'm a huge giants fan as well. And this year is different especially defensively. ... I know for a fact the giants win the game but I'm staying away from betting it. Let's gooooo G-Men

Haha good man. I only put $200 on it but if Odell could catch one of two TD passes he dropped to go along with the 7 drops total in the game and I don't know how many fumbles --- we blow the game open.

I was right about the Saints not scoring enough points which is why I'm glad I didn't bet the over. Would have been a double loss.
