I'd like to think I have a pretty good pulse on my team so if you're not too familiar with the Giants, please don't go off last year or even the past few years.
I'm telling you this is a very different team.
As far as the game goes -- I think the Giants are the better overall team. Both potent offenses so that's a wash but I think the key here is the improved Giants defense. Not only is the pass rush improved but the secondary is no longer just DRC. Jenkins shut Dez down last game and the rookie Apple looks as NFL ready as one can be. The safeties FS Berhe & SS Collins pack a nasty punch -- not great in coverage but they make you pay. The rookie Darian Thompson is actually the starter(didn't start against Dallas coming off injury) and he's looked the part thus far. Big test against Brees & co.
I wouldn't put much stock into what the Giants offense did against a bad Cowboys defense because #1 it was a divisional matchup, #2 the cowboys have the best OL in the league so they dominated the TOP, Dak didn't overly impress but he didn't make many mistakes and given the time to throw he moved the chains. Giants only scored 20 points but we were 3 for 3 in the red zone.
We also get our kicker Josh Brown back from suspension this week so that should stabilize our special teams. I don't imagine he will miss an extra point like Bullock(released).
For what it's worth I put $575/500 on the Giants wk 1. Nail biter like most NYG/DAL divisional games are regardless.
I'm thinking a $200 bet would be appropriate for this game and the over intrigues me but I'm not sure yet. Weather conditions could play a part but I don't think so. Eli plays very well in driving rain. I'm just wondering if the Saints muster up enough points.
My prediction is something like
Giants 38
Saints 24
BOL to everyone.
