Call me a backwards hick or whatever you like, but I just scratch my head
in wonder with all these cries on the forum of "he's a racist" or "look at
those racist comments" or "ban that racist s.o.b." I really don't get it. I
know that racism is still a serious issue, but in the REAL world. I mean, if
people are denied employment because of their race, or housing, or
entrance into a college or university...or are physically threatened or
harrassed...then that is hideous, uncalled for, and should be remedied at
whatever cost. But when people get so upset when an anonymous person
behind a keyboard types something...my goodness why would you let that
get to you? People in this day and age have become so damn sensitive to
the spoken (or in this case typed) word that it's scary to me. The phrases
"man up" and "get over it" come to mind. If a person is so self-conscious
about their race or religion, why in the world would they register at an
online forum of this size and subject themselves to potentially hundreds of
racists, bigots, homophobes etc. to take shots at them? The day that
something that someone on this board says about me personally elicits
anger or biterness in me, is the day I step back and try to evaluate what
is wrong in my life that I would react that way to what some idiot on a
sports forum typed.
