I have had their service since 1998. I am fucking DONE. DONE

They have been charging me for an HD receiver that hasn't been connected for 12 months. Not to mention, I went a bought a replacement receiver from Best Buy, which they said extended my contract or created contract that requires me to have Directv for 1 year.

They will fuck you anyway possible and have crap for customer service to fix any issues. No way I'd ever sign up with them again or recommend them. Just a shady company all the way around.

big10, I have directv also, been a customer since 2001 and I had problems with them overbilling me, I called and pitched a bitch and got all charges removed, They were charging me 5 $ a month for each receiver, which I own 4 of them, So I called and told them I own my equipment and I shouldnt be charged 20 dollars a month for receivers that I already bought and own, to make a long story short they gave me 6 months of premium channels and removed the receiver charges, So I say to you, call them back and put up a bitch and tell them you gonna switch to dish network.. they will be change their tune real quick and do watever it takes to keep you as a customer..

what was told to me is that the $5 is not actually a lease on the receiver it was a lease for the channels to come into the box (or something like that). Am I getting fucked??

Directv is the only way to go if you like the NFL. If you sign up with them I am sure they will give you a sweet deal on the NFL package.

I have Comcast and DTV. What I really need is a box that gets Chicago local channels.

I just signed up with Direct Tv today. They have a promo if you buy NFL ticket for 5 payments of $59.99, you get 5 months free Premier package. So pretty much your paying for service and getting NFL Ticket free if you wanna look at it that way. Pretty good deal for me, but I've been dealing with really expensive time warner cable tv for a couple years now.

Also if you find the right person to order through, you can get a free NFL remote with signup. They have remotes for each team and they are pretty sweet. I got the Colts remote

They did the same thing to me when I bought a receiver at best buy...they extend your service agreement for a year and don't even tell you. Plus, wait until you cancel and they make you return the receiver that you purchased with no refund.

I had the NFL ticket, one weekend I spent the first half of the first game on the phone with them trying to get it to work. The multi-score channel never worked.

I'm with Dish now...much, much cheaper and dependable.

GUYS Just a heads up, I am pretty sure that DIRECT TVs EXCLUSIVE NFL contract ends this season, sooooooo If your subscribing just for that, well, who knows where it will be, or Parceled out to in 2010.

making the choice exclusively on the NFL package, makes sense for thsi year, but for long term>? who knows where it will be.

Competition breeds success and much better pricing. Direct has been exclusive on the NFL and charge what they feel. I had everything they offer for 4 years, free. My cousin was a local dealer and gave me a showroom box.

He had a conflict with them over pricing and them gouging his profit. Dumped them and my free stuff was gone. I would NEVER use that company again. Not because of what they did to my cousin but the customer service I had dealing with them as a employee with my cousin. I may have helped him 3 times a year to justify I deserved the free service. Every time we wanted payment they would delay it up to 3 months.

No sir.

Direct TV's contract doesn't end this yr or the next. They just signed another contract for 1 billion dollars + couple millions. My friend works for verizon and he "heard" through the grape-vines that Verizon wanted in and was willing to pay millions than Direct TV busted out with the BILLION dollar mark.

So far, I havent had any problems with their customer service but we shall wait and see. But poor customer service is everywhere. I remember when I was dealing with a comcast CS, I asked to be transferred to someone who can actually speak english.
