According to today's report from the NY Times dated April 16, 2014, titled
[h=2]A Star Player Accused, and a Flawed Rape Investigation[/h]brings to light several inconsistencies in the investigation by the school and the police dept.

Based on this report and the accusations against the school (quote --University administrators, in apparent violation of federal law, did not promptly investigate either the rape accusation or the witness’s admission that he had videotaped part of the encounter. Records show that Florida State’s athletic department knew about the rape accusation early on, in January 2013, when the assistant athletic director called the police to inquire about the case. Even so, the university did nothing about it, allowing Mr. Winston to play the full season without having to answer any questions. unquote), could charges be brought against the school resulting in the schools vacating the wins in 2013 and possible NCAA probation?

No, its basically a rehash of old information and heavily biased toward the accuser and “lawyer”. Lots of key details are left out. A very poorly written piece IMO. There was a reason nothing came after the initial extensive investigation into the allegation.

This might get swept under the carpet; however there are more rumblings about FSU. Latest is from Florida by Steve Robinson in his "The Live Comentary" titled Florida State University’s Rape Problem: Football First, Morals Later dated April 19th. The Orlando Sentinal wrote a request for the Gov Rick Scott to order a probe. The USAToday reports that
the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights has opened an investigation of Florida State University into whether its handling of the Jameis Winston rape allegations violated Title IX laws, according to a letter confirming the decision that was obtained by USA TODAY Sports.

A spokesman for the Department of Education confirmed the school is being investigated for a Title IX complaint.
We'll have to see how this plays out.

I mentioned when it became public that it was going to be investigated by DoJ. I think the initial investigation was tainted in the fact that they did not get a sample from Mr heisman for over 10 months. I think it should have taken place within 30 days or so of the charges coming to light which would have been back in Dec '12. It'll be interesting to see what a completely independent investigation turns up.

I don't believe this effort is to pursue charges against Jameis Winston. It is a title IX investigation against the school regarding whether or not the school followed the guidelines of the CDC. There are several schools currently under investigation of violating Title IX. None of which is receiving the visability as with FSU. The NCAA may take action by starting it's own investigation if the school is found guilty of failing to adhere to Title IX. We'll have to see how this plays out.

CBS reported the following today --
Quote
In March, the U.S. Department of Edcuation's Office of Civil Rights reportedly began an investigation into Florida State's handling of the Jameis Winston sexual assault allegations. School officials did not seek to question Winston or involved teammates Chris Casher and Ronald Darby until January 2014, after which Casher and Darby were reportedly cited by the school for code of conduct violations.Winston faced no such citation, and an attorney for his accuser told USA Today in a Friday report that the reason was simple: on the advice of his legal counsel, Winston had refused to cooperate.
"The university took the position that since he refused to respond to questions, they could not make any Title IX findings," attorney Baine Kerr said. "We have objected to that as impermissible reason to delay or terminate a Title IX sexual assault investigation because that would permit any charged party to thwart an investigation simply by refusing to answer questions."
Kerr has asked Florida State to re-open its investigation and charge Winston with code of conduct violations. The school declined to comment to USA Today, though in a statement responding to Wednesday's New York Times report on both the Tallahassee police and Florida State investigations of the claims against Winston, the school vehemently defended its handling of the case. unquote

I don't think we've heard the end.

This is what happens when you accept federal funds, they the Washington regulators place conditional clauses (i.e. "strings attached") to every dollar.
If Winston was suspected of being guilty of a crime, it became a matter for the local police to investigate, not some distant bureaucrat siting on his or her
fat ass trying to pre-judge outside of a court of law. If there was probable-cause, charge the person....otherwise....shut-up. All this crap goes beyond
a "she says, he says" alleged rape case ......it's another high-profile "feminist issue" that has reached the National stage. Speaking of (past) high-profile sexual assault cases, why didn't the civil rights division or whatever it is, go after President Clinton when he was "porking" all those women from Washington to Arkansas and back....the only punishment he received was when Hillary beat the crap out of him when she found out he was receiving oral-sex just down the hall from where she was sleeping....talk about being pissed-off....we can't even imagine....They say he (Clinton) still has scare-tissue from the ass-whipping he received from her.

That would have been hilarious to watch sitting back with a ice cold beer.
