Man I've been waiting for this weekend for what seems like years.... glad it's finally here. The lines are starting to climb a little bit, so I'm locking in my picks for week 1. I will end up playing more I'm sure as we get closer to gametime and the alcohol starts flowing on Saturday.
Temple -7 2.2 units to win 2 units
Army is terrible, and they have a new coach with a new system to boot. I hate betting against the guys fighting for our county, but I gotta make some money. Plus, Temple's got more talent and the most returning starters of any team in CFB. Their QB is actually pretty good. I'll lay the chalk on the road.
USC -19.5 2.2 units to win 2 units
UVA's offense wasn't good last year, and they lost their playmakers. Petey Carroll is calm, cool, and collected, plus his team is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. Somewhat worried about a slow start out of the gates plus the trip all the way across the country or I'd lay more, but I really see a 38-3 type game.
Wyoming -10 2.4 units to win 2 units
Buying the hook here, but I don't think I need it. I'm taking it for the same reason everyone else is. Read the other threads if you want more analysis. I'm being lazy tonight.
ECU +9.5 2.2 units to win 2 units
Va Tech is overrated and IMO won't move the ball very well. They are one of the youngest teams in college FB. ECU hung with them last year on the road, so I'll take the live home dog who IMO has a legit chance for an outright win.
Fresno St +5 2.2 units to win 2 units
Fresno is underrated and IMO is the best team in a non-BCS conference. Rutgers is by no means a bad team, but I think they suffer tremendously from the loss of Ray Rice in the backfield. Once again, worried about the trip all across the country, but I think they win outright. I'll put 5 points in my pocket for a rainy day just in case.
Tennessee -7 2.2 units to win 2 units
I'm not a UT homer. As a matter of fact I'm a Geaux Tiger fan. However, I'm from TN and I have to hear the same shit every year from my buddies about "this is our year". I don't think it's their year for a Nat'l Champ, but I buy into the hype. Plus, UCLA is absolutely garbage. Think Notre Dame from last year. I think they only reason this game isn't UT -14+ is because of their trip to Cal last year. Well, it's a new year, and UCLA doesn't have near the talent that Cal did. UT has as much or more than last year. Read all the threads about this game if you want more in-depth analysis.
The UT and Fresno games are on Monday, so I may add another unit or two depending on how the others go.
I'll post the other plays closer to game time. Leans right now are Wisconsin, Florida(its FLA or nothing here for me), the UF/Hawaii under, FAU, Michigan State, and Clemson(I hate betting against Saban though because he's greasy and always has been).
GL to all this year and let's get the bookies.
Thoughts on these anyone?
