My buddy put $25 on Carolina to win the NFC at the begining of the year and cashed for $20,000. I bet another friend that there were at least 100 of these tickets out there....anyway to find out?

Surprised anybody would put 800-1 on ANY TEAM for just the conference??? Most books learned their lesson with the Rams Super Bowl win a few years back when some of them were caught with their pants down at odds of over 200-1. Generally no book will push odds that high unless the team has already been 100% eliminated from the playoffs. Is that same book dealing the SB at 9 by any chance?

Charlie, this was discussed 2 months ago where it was proved 80/1 was the best price Carolina for the NFC .

You sure it wasn't $250 x 80 or maybe $2500 x 8? Those make a little more sense. No book offers 800-1 on the conference otherwise they would get murdered everytime a team with low expectations pre season got on a run. On a side note a friend of mine got 30-1 on the Panthers after 4 games to win the NFC.

NO BOOK had 800 to 1 for Conference, let alone the SuperBowl.

800 to 1 for conference, give me a break, you are truly gulible - he probably never won.

Or if he did, he just had invested $250 x 80 (odds)

These were the OPENING lines at WWTS
Odds To Win 2004 NFC Championship

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4/1
Philadelphia Eagles 4/1
St. Louis Rams 7/1
Green Bay Packers 15/2
Atlanta Falcons 8/1
San Francisco 49ers 8/1
New York Giants 14/1
New Orleans Saints 14/1
Washington Redskins 20/1
Dallas Cowboys 25/1
Chicago Bears 25/1
Seattle Seahawks 25/1
Minnesota Vikings 27/1
Carolina Panthers 40/1

Detroit Lions 100/1
Arizona Cardinals 100/1

So lets give or take the difference, there is still no way it would be close to 100 to 1...let alone 800 to 1 LOL

They are available at the link above in the thread. NE was 11-1 and the highest for any team was 125-1. Think about it: when a team is 100-1 that represents a 99% chance that the team will not accomplish whatever the goal is: ie. Conference title victory. No book puts out 800-1 because there is NEVER that level of certainty in sports (unless dealing with the Cubs or the Red Sox maybe LOL)
