Tulsa/Tulane

Tulsa has a lot of shoes to fill, but they are still running the same offense and have the feeling of Texas Tech to me...replace quarterback and repeat. Tulsa may get off to a slow start, but things should start clicking before halftime and they should pull away easily. Tulane already has a thin defense and with 2 of their returning players suspended, they just will not be deep enough to keep fresh legs in the game. Tulsa hasn't been nearly as strong on the road, but Tulane's defense gave up over 35 ppg last season and that won't change tomorrow. That being said, this also makes a strong argument for the under. I can't decide which of the plays I like better for tomorrow and since there's only one game, I'm going to play both.

Tulsa -13.5 $110 to win $100
Tulsa/Tulane under 64 $110 to win $100

I'm going to change my plays from $$ to units so its not as confusing. Like I said before, most of my plays are flat 1 unit plays, with the occasional 2 unit play.

So that being said,

wut up big will....u seem to be one of few on this site who is playing tonight's game and also has an explanation for why they are playin the specific side....
do u think that tulsa getting off to a slow start is why this game is going to stay under?...or do you think that tulane may have a lack of offense and have trouble scoring?

iknow that tulsa was a scoring machine last year, and i do expect them to throw up some points tonight, i just have no idea what to expect from tulane....

I think that both teams will get off to a slow start offensively as Tulsa is starting a new quarterback and Tulane only averaged 17ppg all of last year. Tulsa is well into their current system, however, and Tulane is still trying to make adjustments to get more balance and big play ability. I'm not sure Tulsa will be the potent offense they have been in the past putting up 50 points per game, but Tulane will make them look like it tonight. Their defense is just awful. The Tulsa is a very strong play for me at -13.5 as I don't think Tulane can hang for 4 quarters or maybe even 2, but I am a little worried about the under 64. It is now down to 61 and I wouldn't touch it at that. Just like others have said on here, it takes two teams scoring to hit the mid 60's. Tulsa's defense is not good and Tulane didn't score much last year, but their star running back Andre Anderson and wr Jeremy Williams were both out last year with injuries. They are both back this season as seniors, so I imagine Tulane will score, I'm just not sure how much. They will need to score at least 21 points in my opinion to send this game over. Good luck with your plays...

Regarding my strong play on Tulsa -13.5, here is something directly from Tulane's own website for you to ponder....

What you need to know: Three coordinators in three years. Either they’re all coaching their way to promotions or unable to remain employed. In the case of Tulane, it’s the latter. Steve Stanard is the newest assistant being asked to turn around one of the nation’s worst defenses. After a surprising start in 2008, the defense came apart at the seams, yielding at least 40 points in six of the final eight games. Vulnerable through the air and, particularly, on the ground, the Green Wave simply lacks the talent and depth to stifle even modest offensive attacks. More of the same is expected this fall from a group with no evident star power or likely next-level athletes. Although potential exists on the defensive line, with Reggie Scott, Adam Kwentua, and Logan Kelley, it won’t be enough to counter a flimsy and beatable back seven.

Thats the only question mark in this game to me. Tulane started out hot last year before getting depleted by injuries. They lost their all star wr and rb in the first 4 weeks and then the wheels fell off. Both of those players are seniors and healthy this season, so they should be able to score more points. That being said, both of those players were in the game against Tulsa last year...

thanks and good luck to you this weekend! I am still looking at a play on OU, but it will most likely either be a play on the first half or the total. Too easy to get backdoor score giving up 22
