Tried to get cute last night and bet what I perceived was a value play with the UNDER in the Dallas/Sac game, only to have the 'Market' slap me down with a note to my mother reminding her to keep me from betting UNDERS when the two best offenses and two of the league's worst defenses meet up. Mom had the OVER. Mothers know best.

All righty back at em here today. Spurs in the playoffs and have a chance to win the Western Conference just 2 games back of the Lakers whom they play on Sunday. Utah will be fighting for their lives tonight as they try to hold on to that last playoff spot. Adding to the Jazz's motivation is their need to avoid an embarrasing sweep at the hands of the Spurs. Jazz's biggest game of the season so far? Some will argue so. Spurs 3-7 ATS last 10 away. Jazz 5-5 ATS last 10 at home. Game means more to UTAH and their getting the 5 points makes it a Bet O The Day.

I wish you the best on the Jazz...I love what Sloan has done with this group. They are a poor man's Grizzlies...deep and semi-interchangeable.

I'm not fond of Jazz when I worry too much about them scoring more than 75. They don't have the veterans to push them through the psychological barrier of the 16 consecutive losses...and even Malone and Stockton weren't getting it done. I show Spurs as 22-6 ATS as dog or fav 9.5 OB in Feb-early April when on the 3gm+ SU win streak last 2.5 years with a healthy Duncan. They are unlikely to have a loss before the battle of the titans this SUnday. I'm not against you, but I feel there must be better spots.

If you want a great technical spot betting against a giant, I think the Sonics fit the profile.

Thanks for your observations Dolphin. All views welcomed pro/con. That's what makes this board a must read. Input so that we can all make informed decisions.

One more side note...Spurs haven't done that well ATS prior to Laker games. However, last three occasions where Duncan played and the pre-Laker game was a ROAD game, Spurs won ATS by margins of 9,10 and 17. Spurs are historically road monsters. With Duncan they are 19-12.5 this year (the half is the recent Mavs game at Dallas where he didn't play in the second half). They need wins to stave off Memphis for the fourth seed - Memphis won their series 3-1. They also would love to move up vs. the sliding teams above. The Jazz could take pride in making the playoffs, but their chances once in are close to nil. I don't think their motivation is stronger.

Finally, when the Spurs lost at least their previous division game, if their next one is on the road, they are 16-3 ATS. I believe you will find that if Duncan is playing, Spurs are 17-1 SU, 13-5 ATS vs. a division opp. spanning nearly 4 years if they lost at least their previous division match-up. They are methodical, slightly boring, but deadly, esp. this time of the year.
