WUNDERDOG
SARATOGA Race #3 at 2:00 PM Eastern
Top pick: #4 (CINCO DE MAYO MIO) - Talented and lightly-raced daughter of "El Corredor" has been on the sidelines since finishing second on April 22 at Gulfstream facing a bit tougher at this 7/8th's trip. Last year on this surface she finished second twice at this distance in first-level allowance contests and is the horse to beat with her best.
2nd pick: #1 (Bwana Babe) - She's the main speed, is in shape, drops down, and draws the rail. Tough, especially if she gets an easy early lead.
3rd pick: #2 (Honest Gold) - Runs third back off a 100 day layoff and improved in her second off the break. Well-bred filly has some talent, stalking ability, and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #3 (Indian Burn) - Strong finisher is racing back into shape following a 5 month break and is one for one at this trip. Grey daughter of "Indian Charlie" would benefit the most by some type of speed duel.
Del Mar Race #3 at 8:00 PM Eastern
Top pick: #4 (CACTUS FLYER) - Has fine early speed and mare finished second at this level going 5.5 furlongs August 3. Has a flexible style and should have little trouble getting over to the hedge at the start. Five-year-old can take them wire-to-wire.
2nd pick: #5 (Desperate Measures) - Filly had some traffic issues last out in the same race as "Cactus" and was about two lengths off of her on the wire. Runs today third off a two-month freshening and she's a win candidate.
3rd pick: #6 (Magic School) - Lightly-raced filly by "In Excess" has run well in both turf starts, inluding her maiden win at Hollywood park July 16. Moves back to the grass after finishing second here on the main-track July 30, and has a pair of fast drills since then. Win candidate.
4th pick: #1 (Tribalicious) - Has the inside post and last out was just over a length back of "Cactus" at the finish. Race was her first in 4 1/2 months and barn brings her back in 16 days for this. Can factor with a "clean" trip.
