Friday 08/28/09 service plays chatter/comps/requests & gm strategy...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

FYI, let's limit the comps to the first 2 pages, I need this thread to be used for chatter and what games members would like to pick up or split. Service thread getting way to much chatter. Ty.

Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals Arizona Cardinals
-3-125 at BODOG > 22h.
#260 Take Arizona over Green Bay (Friday 10:00 pm WTMJ) We have collected with the Packers in each of their first two games of the season but fell that their luck will run out in Week 3. Back-up QB Matt Flynn is banged with a shoulder injury and that means Brian Brohm will have to play a lot in this game. To make no bones about it, he is terrible and has thrown three interceptions in the first two games. It is hard not to luck Arizona’s QB rotation with Kurt Warner, Matt Leinart, and Brian St Pierre and if they can keep it close early, expect them to easily cover this number. Green Bay was up 24-0 last week and only won that game by 10 points. Aaron Rogers will play a lot in this game, but they cannot afford to get him hurt or their season would be over. This is the Packers first road game of the season and I highly doubt then can look outstanding yet again. In fact, no coach wants his team to peak in the exhibition season. Buffalo and Cleveland do not have the type of offense that Arizona does and we expect the Cards to dominate the second half and cruise to a victory.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers Milwaukee Brewers
-135 at SPBOOK > 12h.
On Friday the comp play is on the Milwaukee Brewers game 960 at 8:05 eastern.Comps are on a nice roll cashing the last 3 nights.Tonight we go with the Brewers who are a dominant 20-1 at home vs the Pirates.Milwaukee has fallen on hard times this month,as they are under .500 on the year.Tonight they get their remedy. The Pirates have been playing surprisingly well after trading most of their experienced roster. They have won 7 of the last 9.Tonight they send Z.Duke to the mound in Milwaukee. He is 3-9 with a 4.70 era vs the Brewers and has been a horrendous road dog in his career. The Pirates are just 6-20 on the road when the total is 9 to 9.5 this year. The Brewers have lefty M.Parra going tonight and he has a 1-1 record vs the Bucs with a decent 2.31 era.Milwaukee hits leftys better than rightys this year. They average 5.4 runs vs southpaws.Milwaukee should continue their dominance over the Pirates tonight and get the call as Fridays comp side.On Friday night I have a solid two for one package going with two big Mlb system winners. Both are hitting over 90%.One has a big pitching edge as well.Jump on these 2 solid sides and start get your weekend off to a flying start.Take the Brewers as the comp play. (975) TEXAS RANGERS
(976) MINNESOTA TWINS
Take "(975) TEXAS RANGERS"

Tommy Hunter continues to be a revelation for the amazing Rangers. Texas is still right in the playoff hunt off a good series against the Yankees, and Hunter has to rate a good sized edge tonight against Twins rookie lefty Duensing. Lay the short spot on the road with Texas.

(959) PITTSBURGH PIRATES
(960) MILWAUKEE BREWERS
Take "(959) PITTSBURGH PIRATES"

It's not your imagination: The Pirates were undefeated last week, a perfect 5-0. Then they upset the Phillies this week, 6-4. Lefty Zach Duke (10-11) has been their best starters, with a 3.38 ERA and few walks. His last three starts: 2.91 ERA, only 2 walks in 21.2 innings. It's tough to have any kind of faith in Milwaukee wild man starter Manny Parra (8-10, 6.54 ERA), giving up a whopping 153 hits in 117 innings. And he's getting worse, with an 8.40 ERA his last three starts. Play the Pirates.

Hot Lines: Today's best MLB bets

New York Mets at Chicago Cubs (-220, N/A)

If the Cubbies can’t gain ground on the division-leading Cardinals playing against the Mets and Nationals, they might as well throw in the towel.

The underachieving Baby Bears wouldn’t concede the playoffs following their 15-6 loss to Washington on Tuesday.

“I don’t think anybody’s packing it in. I don’t see that,” Chicago manager Lou Piniella told the Chicago Sun-Times afterwards. “Remember these teams are getting paid to play, too. We’re not playing a beer-league team from across town. We’re playing a professional team that’s got professional players, and they’re getting paid to play and beat you, too.”

Thanks for clearing that up, Lou.

Luckily for Cubs backers, there are a number of circumstances that make Friday’s matchup with the Mets an attractive situation.

Chicago is 22-6 in Ted Lilly’s last 28 home starts, while the Mets are 3-12 in their last 15 games going against a left-handed starter.

Pick: Cubs -220

Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds (+167, 9)

Of all the moves Ned Colletti has made as the Dodgers GM, the best may have been the move he didn’t make.

Young outfielders Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier were constantly coming up in trade talk, but Colletti held firm and stuck with his prospects. The front office has been rewarded with the patience.

Sure, Manny Ramirez gets all the headlines, but Kemp and Ethier are the heavy lifters in the Dodger lineup. Kemp is among the best two-hole hitters and no player in the majors has delivered more late-inning theatrics than Either.

“Two or three years ago, I was not only fighting to help the team win but also to keep my job,” the right fielder told the Los Angeles Times after hitting his 26th and 27th home runs Wednesday night. “When people show more confidence and belief in you, you can be enhanced by that.”

Expect more good things from the franchise’s cornerstone players along with another Dodger win Friday night.

Pick: Dodgers -175

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

Streaking

Ubaldo Jimenez (12-9, 3.36 ERA), Colorado Rockies

This righty is one of many Colorado players who have been playing outstanding during the club’s hot streak. Jimenez bested Tim Linecum in his last outing, allowing just two runs in eight innings of work.

It was the third consecutive start he pitched eight innings and pushed his six-inning start streak to 22 games.

He’s 5-0, owns 34-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio along with a 1.63 ERA in the month of August. The under is also 8-2 in his last 10 trips to the mound.

C.C. Sabathia (15-7, 3.59), New York Yankees

Here’s another pitcher who’s enjoying the late summer. Sabathia is 5-0 with a 39-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a 2.65 ERA in his last five starts. The boom pushes his record in August to 20-2 since 2005.

He delivered two peak performances against the Red Sox helping his club build its lead in the AL East.

The big lefty doesn’t come cheap for N.Y. backers, especially at Yankee Stadium. Still, pinstripe supporters have cashed out in seven of Sabathia’s last eight starts.

Slumping

Josh Beckett (14-5, 3.65), Boston Red Sox

The flame-throwing righty was one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball this season, but in his last two starts he has given up 15 earned runs.

The big fly is the root problem. The former World Series MVP has been taken out of the park 10 times in his last three outings.

The Yanks clubbed out five big flies in Beckett’s last start.

“These are humbling deals,” the hurler told reporters after the game. “That was a whupping I got today. That’s the only words I’ve got to sum it up.”

Under bettors are also taking a whooping with Beckett toeing the rubber. The under is 0-3 in his last three starts.

Mark Buehrle (11-7, 3.92), Chicago White Sox

It’s been over a month since this lefty threw a perfect game. Things aren’t going so well for Buehrle since that magical day. He carries a 6.22 ERA over his last six starts and his team is just 1-5 in those contests.

“I’m making some pitches and they’re finding some holes and then when you make a mistake they’re hitting the ball hard,” Buehrle said after his latest setback. “It’s just one of those funks I’m in and I need to come out of it sooner than later.”

Fading the 30 year old until he returns to form might be the best strategy.

ATS LOCK / Larry Ness

Something to look for :

When ATS Lock and Larry Ness agree, FADE the pick!!!

Last night, when ATS lock and Larry Ness agreed on Seattle, FADE the pick.
Both had the Seattle Mariners last night as a - 165 favorite and lost 8-4.

It worked to the tune of about 80% as I posted earlier in the year.

When Larry had his top legend play on the Arizona Cardinals last Sat night, ATS also had Arizona. Favored Arizona lost 17-6.

The only other time they agreed on a pick this week was again on the Seattle Mariners on Sunday as a - 150 favorite and lost 6-1.

Fading their agreed picks are 3-0 this week and has been a consistent winner since I've been tracking back to November of last year.

Be aware and look for it. Not 100% but I've seen about 80% on the fade.

Good luck. <!-- / message -->

Scam Scam Alert.

Bookie Basher Sports has two new cappers on this site by the names of Tony Bruno and Tyson Storm (I know what you are thinking but Tyson Storm is NOT a porn star......yet:laugh:)
Basher had this fake syndicate club on his old site that no one bought. Well he made this make believe Tyson Storm guy to basically sell his syndicate club plays now as Tyson is a "big play specialist".

Last night Tyson was advertising a 100 dime release at 10pm est. Well something must of went wrong as today he is claiming a WIN with the reds +1.5 which is ok except the fact that the reds played 2:10 PM EST....yes.....in the AFTERNOON!!

All I'm saying is this guy is a scammer and becareful when looking at his claims. Watch out for Basher, Tyson, and Tony Bruno as they are ALL THE SAME GUY!!!
