I think Federer is most vulnerable on the red dirt....I haven't had much success betting against him, though.....I read some where his Roland Garros record is 9-6. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the Argentines in the final either.

To answer your Nadal question...he is from Spain and 19 years old. He's gone from #30 to #5 in six weeks mainly on his clay court skills....he did take Federer to five sets in Miami on the cement. I think if Federer loses it will be to Nadal.....keep an eye on this kid named Richard Gasquet - a brat for sure but is dangerous on the dirt.

Will be a interesting tourney to watch...leading into the grass court season.

spaniards and frenchmen rule this tournament. Federer, Roddick, and other hard court favorites won't win this tournament. I bet Roger is getting himself ready for Wimbledon instead.

Coria will win this thing.

Nadal exits early.
Federer goes down in the semis.

Nadal is the #1 seed imo.

Although Nadal gets a very difficult 3rd round against home town Gasquet, will be very interesting.

I would not bet on Federer at the odds being offered. Clay is his worst surface (still 58-16 since '01) and his prior results at Roland Garros have been poor. Would not shock me if he never won the French Open. He is used to cruising past opponents with his superior skill but on clay you have to grind away and points are a lot longer. Interesting to note his 5 set career record is only 8-8.

Roddick has a great draw but his clay court game is so bad I still expect a "no-name" player to beat him somewhere down the line. Volandri could give him trouble in the 3rd round

Longshots

>Andreev has a nice draw and could advance to the quarters. I like him to beat Agassi in the 2nd round, should get decent odds there.

>Davydenko has been playing great and should have a nice ride to the 4th round where he will meet clay court great Coria.

>Nalbandian is more a hard court player but has a good mentality which works well with clay. Is a real fighter. His road to the quarters is also appealing.

Very good post here....I would agree with all.

I think the Dynkr(Davydenko) may have done himself a dis-service by playing the Austrian Grand Prix....I wouldn't be surprised to see him play some five setters before exiting in the thied or fourth round.

No one is mentioning Safin....but this tourney is in his head....I hope he does well and like him to the quarters then after that is all in his head.

Nadal into the semis unless he looks ahead and pulls a shocker - always poissible.

Roddick = No Chance....new clothes & shoes but the same ole serve & volley attack. Should've followed Philippoussissssss and opted out for some grass time. But I guess he has ranking points to protect.

Canas, Coria, Gaudio all into the quarters...no love loss between the three btw.

What do you guys see on the girls side?....I like H-H to win it all. Thats Henin-Hardenne for you non-tennis punters.

h-h has a great shot at winning it. davenport will get beat by a nobody or a decent ranked player. She relies on power and clay takes that away from her. Clijsters, Pierce, and Myskina+Dementieva should advance. Venus may reach round of 16 but this isn't her best surface.

My girly sleeper (wow that sounds weird) to win it is Mary Pierce....Been in the weight room after the injury and looking strong all dirt season....and she really wants this tourney bad.

Pierce may not win it all, but I know she can take out some russians and seeded players along the way. However, she can pull an Ivanisevic like he did at Wimbledon.

The better bet is the Women's winner. Much more formful and Clusters draw is terrific for her. She is an easy value play at 6-1 or better.

Clijsters has a serious injury concern.

News from her official website > http://www.kimclijsters.com/

Clijsters is still concerned about her knee, an injury she got in Berlin, but "everything is fairly ok". "The last couple of days I have been starting training intensively. I've played a couple of points against Tatiana Golovin, but don't feel entirely sure on the court yet".

"My first aim is to get through the first matches without any further injury and to listen to my body. I take it that I'm at 75 to 80 procent of my abilities".

V...Any other time I would agree with you...but I don't see Kimster finishing this tourney...she has a sprained knee and has publicly said that she will quit on a dime the first sign of pain.....

She even said that next year she will take off the dirt season....if you can find it the best bet here would be "Field over Clijsters" .... I hope I'm wrong here as she is a trooper and had the sense to dump Hewitt.

Thanks H...you beat me to it....

I see no way Clijsters finishes the torney... also Myskina has a lingering shoulder issue...and as long as we're at it Moya on the mens side has a bum right shoulder...they all should sit but if you know the tennis world its all about the ego baby...

I agree that Clijsters has virtually no hope. 5dimes has -1000 for her not to win.

Women's side to win.

>V. Williams at 12-1
>V. Zvonera at 70-1
>E. Dementieva at 28-1

Golovin and Ivanovic at 100-1 or better for more longshot fun.

Of the bigger favs I trust Sharapova should make it comfortably to the quarters to face Henin-Herdenne.

H...I don't have tons of time now but come down to the Global room later and I will have more time...

Quickly I will say this .... "Hot Pants" Golovin has no chance....I love Ivanovic as a playa but not this tourney (she is a cutie btw)....Pova I don't think will see the 4th round (pain in the azz btw)....and Zvon & Demtia will never see the 12th day...My "final four" on the girlie side are ....H-H, Mauresmo,DPort, and Pierce...
