Freitas, although undefeated should be tested here by someone that has some power as indicated by Barrios' 75% ko ratio.

I like Freitas as a fighter, but after seeing in his last bout, I am trying to find a way to hedge a bet in favor of Barrios, although I have never seen him in action.

What do you guys think of this fight? Does Barrios have a shot?

I saw a picture of Barrios on Showtime and he looked kind of slender and not real strong. I heard he's an agressive fighter which if true, might not be good for him.

39-1-1......the loss was a disqualification......was once a pressure fighter only but as he has progressed in his career,he has learned to box and become more of a complete fighter....that`s what i read,anyway....

argentine vs brazilian....natural rivalry.....barrios is by no means a slam dunk for freitas....the guy apparently has a very solid chin..read that barrios has been angling for this shot for quite awhile,,,

was looking at the over but then i read that a ton of garbage was being hurled back and forth by both fighters,,,,freitas claiming that he wants to get barrios out of there...

but talk is cheap....freitas has struggled recently to get solid guys like daniel attah and of course, joel casamayor out of there....

his one round kayo of tough, tough javier jauregui scares the hell out of me,though.......

i have to cop to having never had the pleasure of seeing barrios fight...except for one fight in uruguay and one in italy, the guy has never fought outside of argentina....may be a little overwhelming for him fighting in america,,,,or it may give him a goose....

at almost a full 5-1 underdog, you could lay 1/5 of a unit on him and hope for the best....

i`m still checking out the over....there are better things to bet on....tough to put money on something sight unseen....

without having seen barrios fight myself,it`s hard to give any solid info....everything i posted here was from reading up on the guy...

there`s better stuff to throw money at than this....imo...

At this point I like Acelino based on what I have heard this week about Barrios. In spite of his record, it seems as if he is nowhere near the level of Acelino.

I like for every 250 you lay to win 100 on Freitas to win by KO, lay 100 to win 630 on Freitas to win by Decision. This can be done at Pinnacle. He may have a tough time taking this guy out considering he has never been stopped.

i would surmise that freitas will win....but,with barrios admittedly being somewhat of a wild card, why would you take a chance on a potential double loss if the guy just happens to be a legit 39-0 fighter(the one loss being a d.q.)and gets lucky?.....why would you force the action when oly and 5 dimes have plenty of action involving fighters that you(or at least i)am much more familiar with....

not trying to influence your play, just giving you my take on this issue...

if you feel secure in the knowledge that freitas will win, then your hedge makes some sense....

i just don`t know enough about barrios....

i will say this...i saw some video of him on the espn fight show tonight and wasn`t that impressed...looked like a face first brawler that throws wide, looping punches.....freitas tends to do the same, occasionally, but he throws enough straight punches to make an unorthodox brawler pay dearly.....

but what if this guy is another ricardo mayorga?....

i just don`t know enough....you may feel differently....

g.l. whatever you do........

I thought he looked like trash from the clips I saw.

i agree that being basically 39-0 does not mean the guy a legit world class fighter.....as i said, freitas probably wins...based on the odds,i`d say that`s the prevailing sentiment

...and agree with valdosta that the clips that were shown were not flattering to barrios..

I keep going back and forth on this one in terms of whether or not I will do anything.

Well, I think I may leave it alone. I am very risk averse, so I am now considering taking Francisco Bojado over Lemuel Nelson. It should be an easy victory for him.

Thanks to you both for your feedback.

bf....a friend of mine at another site likes freitas quite a bit via stoppage...i wasn`t trying to dissuade your action....just trying to give you all sides.....

the guy is very sharp and has been hot lately....if you like freitas, and my friend likes him quite a bit inside the distance, you can get freitas"inside the distance" at pinnacle for -225....valdosta also appears to feel strongly about freitas(although i don`t presume to speak for him)...

i was considering freitas inside the distance myself...but i really hate laying odds when i sense that i don`t have a real good feel for both guys in the bout....

but, this friend is based in vegas and has been very good....

just an fyi...sorry i spoke up...go with your gut....

Do you guys think this will go over or under the 7.5 rounds? I just layed $325 on Freitas to win by TKO, KO or DQ.......thinking about taking the UNDER.......still not sure.......

was maybe, the worst technical fighter i`ve ever laid eyes on......he makes mayorga seem polished...and those shoes....like being on roller skates.....but,just like mayorga, the guy is awkward and very, very tough.....i`m glad i hadn`t seen him fight or i would have been all over freitas....and i would have had heart failure.......i felt lucky getting the over in.....

in a fair world, freitas is sharper and gets this guy out early....but,that`s boxing....that`s why i hate fooling with guys i`ve never seen with my own eyes....

any body that took freitas by stoppage, catch your breath......that`s probably the hardest you`ve ever worked to get a fight in....the ref made a mistake(or did it on purpose)by stopping the fight after the freitas knockdown to put the mouth piece in.......you never stop to put the mouth piece in at critical stage of a fight like that....may have been a turning point...

this just reinforces in my mind why i never, ever like to wager on fighters sight unseen.....i know a lot of guys that are taking gas after just pulling this one out.....

hit my big play tonight on the cauthen-quiles over....and a little play on the freitas-barrios over....

boxing can be strange....but an enjoyable, dramatic bout....

that`s why boxing is beautiful.....unreal.....

I was thinking of putting a thousand on Freitas to win my DEC. for +620 at Pinnacle... good think I don't have an account there. I would have had a bloody heart attack. What a fight.

Yep, Barrios looked like crap in the clips I saw. He looked the same against Freitas. I think someone is highly overrated and ready to lose in the near future. Anyways, good calls on Cauthen over and Freitas over. I had the Reid under. I KNEW he would be agressive so someone would get koed within 10. Reids chin is so so and his power is very good.

It turned out to be a very entertaining fight and card. I came within 2:10 of netting $263 on a hedge bet, something very similar to what I mentioned earlier in this thread. I ended up breaking even. However, I did win $100 on my Bojado wager over Nelson. I think that was the easiest call of the night.
