Me and Frank had a run-in in Sarasota a few years back. If he could have grabbed me, he would have put on the hurt. I was a bit provocative I must say. LOL

I did get his batting glove though. He threw it at me. I believe this was 1997.

I say yes. Perhaps I am a little biased, however. A couple of years ago, I was a little tipsy and was at the Palms playing blackjack at about 2 a.m. on a Thursday. Who walks up to my table? Frank Thomas. After all of the bullshit I had heard about him in the media, I was expecting a total dick. Believe it or not, he turned out to be the nicest guy ever. We talked about all kinds of stuff, family, friends, chicago, the media, etc. etc. We ended up hanging out the next night and having a few more cervezas. It blew my mind how soft spoken and classy this guy really is. Literally, one of the nicest athletes/celebs I have ever met.

I was on Frank throughout the game. He fanned Florida 3 times against a no rate unknown kid in a spring training game. I was walking around the stadium getting high & I made alot of loud comments while he was at bat. He kept looking at me all evil and then late in the game I'm down in the right outfield with alot of partiers and he and Albert come walking off the field and I threw one more "you are overrated" comment his way. He reached and grabbed his glove and threw it baseball style at me. I reached and caught it. He was very upset with me, but he got over it I'm sure.

You were walking around the stadium getting high? As in smoking pot high? LOL!

Did you keep the glove?

Oh my goodness...
General you were one step from becoming a household name on SportsCenter...You weren`t by any chance in Chicago last year when the first base coach was attacked by deranged lunatics lol?

Was this legal and I am unaware? HAHA!

The glove was given to a good friend that I went with. It was his idea to go and he was a big Frank & Sox fan. I just went along for the ride at the time.

Frank Thomas in?
Ryne Sandberg no?
Dwight Evans No?

His teams haven't been that good over the years and that hurts him.

His numbers make him worthy IMO...3 more good years and he`s a lock...If he retired today , I would say 50/50...The HOF committee seems to look the other when when a players career dries up at 35, even when they have dominated to that point...many players Rice, Mattingly, Murphy, Sandberg...its the final quarter will Frank answer the bell?

I'd have to go look up his stats, but he has tailed off badly after a great start (yes I kniw he has made some what of a comeback over the last year).

Other negatives:

He has been DHing a lot over last few years and putting up mediocre numbers
His defense is less than stellar
He's been somewhat of a detriment to team morale for a few years
He's never won anything

In short, I kind of relate him to Jose Canseco although Frank doesn't have that amount of negative baggage.

STRANGE!

Frank is a LOCK and Dwight Evans is OFF the HOF ballot????????????????????????

HITS

Dewey 2446
Frank 2048

WALKS

Dewey 1391
Frank 1386

RBI

Dewey 1384
Frank 1390

Runs

Dewey 1470
Frank 1255

HR

Dewey 385
Frank 418

TOTAL BASES

Dewey 4230
Frank 3752

Dewey multiple Gold Glove Award winner and also historic post-season performances.

Understand, not saying undoubtedly DEWEY belongs in the HOF. However, saying Frank is a HOF and by some peoples accounts, a LOCK HOF'er, and then come to find out DEWEY is completely OFF the HOF ballot is some funky shit!!

For the sake of argument here is Dwight Evans stats - here

I realize he was a heck of a fielder, but there is too many sub 80 rbi seasons there (playing in a hitters park) for me. Not only does he not put up Frank Thomas numbers, he doesn't put up Bernie Williams numbers. He is a player that really would have benefitted by a WS ring.

On the link, look at the comparable players to him. Rice belongs in the HOF before Evans.
