Fox News apologises for Kerry fabrication

Fox News, the influential rightwing US television network, said yesterday it had "reprimanded" its chief politi cal correspondent after its website carried fabricated quotes attributed to John Kerry, in which he called himself a "metrosexual" who enjoys getting manicures.

The network, owned by Ru pert Murdoch, apologised for the article in which the Democratic challenger was quoted telling a rally in Florida: "Didn't my nails and cuticles look great? What a good debate!" Comparing himself to the president, Mr Kerry was supposed to have said: "I'm metrosexual - he's a cowboy." Women voters, he purportedly added, "should like me! I do manicures."

"Carl Cameron made a stupid mistake and he has been reprimanded for his lapse in judgment. It was a poor attempt at humour and he regrets it," a Fox spokesman, Paul Schur, told the Los Angeles Times, though he would not give details of what action would be taken against Mr Cameron.

I would expect far higher standards from any western media agency.
I think they should close Fauxnews down for this, the channel has no credibility anyway and massively plummeting ratings.

They should all be reassigned to real jobs flipping burgers and clearing tables instead of transmitting their loonytunes nonsense.

Carl Cameron has, well...issues. Fox is not going to know what to do or say on Nov.2 after Kerry wins. It's going to be funny watching the Bushies leave the WH. I think they think they are lifers there. Going to come as quite a shock.

i'll be the first to admit, as a Republican, that "no" fox news is not fair and balanced. but, it's also funny when the left whines about fox, when they have CNN, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, PBS (Bill Moyers), most of the major newspapers, Comedy Central (John Stewart), Letterman and Leno, and MTV (Mock the Vote).

but, they insist on crying about FOX and talk radio.

I don't whine about Fox News. I just can't stand to watch it, conserv/lib whatever it's just a sensationalistic, lame attempt at serious journalism presented at about a 3rd-5th grade reading level. In a nutshell Fox News is that National Inquierer on tv.

the only reason to watch FAUX is for the nifty trial updates and the cheesy music.
they are bent towards entertainment and to rely on them for serious journalism is like relying on McDonalds to take care of all you nutritional needs.
