Florida vs Boston on 04/19 by Jay_Robinson

The Boston Bruins are much, much better than the rest of the NHL – or at least they were during the regular season, when they posted a plus-1.54 on the Simple Rating System at Hockey Reference. That’s fourth all-time for the Bruins, even better than their 1971-72 Cup winning team (plus-1.50 SRS) with Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito.

Last year’s Panthers led the league at plus-1.07 SRS; this year, they barely made the playoffs at plus-0.24 SRS, and they already lost Game 1 to Boston 3-1 as +192 road dogs. FiveThirtyEight has the Bruins winning Wednesday’s rematch 76% of the time, for an equivalent moneyline of –317. It’s not often you get a team this good (and this famous) at a bargain price.
