I remember the blitzkrieg FSU away +2.5 put on Michigan 51-31 in 1991. And FSU -7 stomping on Ohio State 31-14 in a Sugar bowl about 1998. And a pretty bad FSU team fighting Penn St to the death in OT in the orange bowl 23-26 a few years ago while +10. I cant say I have a ton of respect for the Big10.

Thats it though, I looked, no other games in that time. They have not matched up with the slow10 much.

I thought their might be something to FSU playing bowl games in Florida, but not really 5-4 ATS since 1990.

Florida St will probably be one of my biggest plays. Should man handle Wisky no problem.

Agreed. FSU- was nearly my chalk play for the bowl season. That is how serious i feel about the Seminoles dominating here. Wisky has a track record of poor play when facing athletic teams.

I tend to agree I think FSU covers. But Im an FSU fan and can get shaded and cant find any specific reason to like them other than memory of them ripping up Bigslow10 teams ATS when played and that I think FSU does have a real speed edge over the cheese eaters.

When analyzing the game, here is how i broke it down:

QBs - Definite edge for the Seminoles.
RBs - This favors Wisky
OL - Wisky by a hair
DL - Big edge for FSU
LB - Big edge for FSU
DB - slight edge for FSU
Coaching - Big edge for FSU, Bielema sucks IMO.
Special teams - edge for FSU, Wisky has no gamebreakers that can change field position.
Intangibles - favors neither team. Neither team can be happy to be in this game really.

Overall, i just feel that Wisky will struggle to move the ball on the ground against the Seminole front seven, and if they can't establish the run, it will be a very long evening for the Badgers.

Wisconsin strictly running offense will be put to the test with the coaching ability of Bowden in a Bowl game. Badgers will have their hands full with speed of Florida State on BOTH sides of the ball and the lack of a passing game on the offensive side of the Badgers will be their undoing. QB Sherer of Wisconsin will have his hands full vs FSU defense.

Looks like a LONG DAY for Bucky Badger

You're talking about 1991 and 1998 FSU teams to use justification to bet on the 2008 FSU team? You serious?

No. it is not a good reason to bet by itself. I tried to find any games vs big10, since 1990 there were only 3.

You are overlooking the most obvious thing about this game. Wisky is without several of its best players including Beckum.

FSU should dominate this game, but Wisconsin may be able to run the ball and speed the game up. FSU tends to be undersized and thus could have trouble with Wisky's big backs.

I like FSU in this game (what's new), but this line scares me. Expected it to be a solid 7/7.5.

FSU "neutral" field games at Jacksonville. I realize this game is in Orlando, but same type neutral field type thing where FSU really is home. I guess between seeing FSU kick ass in these and seeing them beat up the big10 in rare meetings I figured I could bet FSU.

Florida State games in Jacksonville

2008 FSU -6.5 39-21 over Colorado

2007 FSU -2.5 21-14 over Alabama

2005 FSU +14 27-22 over Virginia Tech

2004 FSU +1 30-18 over West Virginia

2001 FSU pick 30-17 over Virginia Tech

2000 FSU -27.5 over BYU won 29-3, did not cover

1999 FSU -40 beats Duke 51-23 did not cover

7-0

5-2 ATS

The Badgers experienced a dismal season this year (far from the Alvarez years) with their win/loss record (they probably are not of bowl calibre this year).

But....they have a very large fan following (especially to bowl games during the Holiday season when it is cold in Wisconsin) and this impresses bowl committees. So the Badgers are in a 'big bowl" game with a mediocre team this year.

With FSU on an "up-tick" along with all the good athletes on the roster this year, the Noles should be able to handle the Badgers (not in a blow-out) but enough to cover.

Good Luck

can fsu avoid penalties and turnovers?

Penalties, no. They never do, but that isn't a huge deal. Everyone knows the best teams usually tend to have quite a few penalties due to their aggresive play.

Turnovers, yes. For the most part the skill players don't fumble the ball. Biggest chance of a turnover is via INT, but I think ever since the Wake Forest game in Week 4, Fisher has held Ponder back a lot and not allowed him to try many deep balls. Anything he does throw deep is usually to Surrency down the sideline, which more often than not just results in a loss of down.

FSU ought to be able to run bubble screens all day with Parker, Reed, and Easterling and move the ball down the field 7-8 yards at a time. My biggest concern in this game is stopping Wisky's running attack. I think they could get blown off the ball early having not seen such a power rushing attack in awhile, and I think fatigue could become a concern late. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Wisky get an early lead, FSU come storming back and go up a few scores, and then see Wisky score again in the 5th to get the deficit back down to single digits.

All things point to FSU in this game, imo. This line seems fishy.

I like the Noles but Wisky is one of the best running dogs of the bowl season and I hate going against the running dogs in bowl games.

Travis Beckum was their stud TE and best player on offense. He was a 1st round pick until this year. Their QB play is so horrible he didn't do anything and then broke his leg. If they had a QB it would be a huge blow but he has been a non factor this year.

Wisconsin has been horrible this year but they usually don't get blown out in bowl games with their style of play.

I like the FSU angle though against the Big 10. Still a no play though...
