#1 Peter Angelos...a lawyer who is trying to run a baseball franchise, Angelos and his sons have ran this once proud winning franchise into the ground

#2 Signing Albert Belle , what is equivalent to a gambler "chasing" his losses...Angelos (trying to match the Yankees) in a haste threw gazillions at Belle who played about 80% of 1 season

#3 Giving away ace Mike Mussina and now letting Ponson go , what the fuc-k are they doing , one minute he`s bringing in over the hill free agents, then he`s leeting go his ace pitchers in their prime?

#4 Firing all his top notch talent around him....Pat Gillick, Frank Robinson, Larry Luchino ( ran out of town) announcers Jon Miller and John Lowenstein canned for no reason , Brooks Robinson in exile from the franchise

#5 Not allowing the hometown 'Baltimore' on the AWAY JERSEY

as far as I know the only owner to pull this stunt...Trying to regionalize the team into DEL, Va, DC markets..

We never see this clown in Maryland anymore, the only time he`s ever spotted is when the team has won, he may be the most hated owner in sports....

Why is it Baltimore cannot get any free agents anymore you may wonder????

ANSWER: EVERY AGENT HATES

I actually think the O's got the better of the deal yesterday, but they are still a long way from being a winner.

Although they are surprisingly competitive this year.

moose could have had about the same money to stay with the orioles. he chose not to stay with a rebuilding team.

pondscum is having a good year, but will suck again next year, after he signs a contract. mark my words.

belle wasnt a bad sign. he would have given us what we needed at the time, and im sure he was insured so he hasnt cost the team any money.

RPM, your totally wrong...Mussina was treated like shit by ownership REMEMBER, Just like RAFFY was...I don`t know what your talking about? They did the same thing with both players, they haggled along lowballing them , then in the end BEGGED them to take a much higher offer...NEITHER PLAYER WANTED TO LEAVE!

Angelos has ruined this team PERIOD!

Ponson is still young, he cold be breaking out, I think so, he has a tremendous arm just wasn`t the sharpest and his work ethic was low....

orioles basically matched the offers that raffy (who left because he would admitedly rather be in texas with family) and mussina recieved from other teams.

mussina SAID he left because he didnt want to spend the few years waiting for the team to rebuild.

Don`t you remember how Raffy WANTED to stay , sure Raffy didn`t mind going back to Texas after the fact..But that whole season he was treated unfairly, thye lowballed him all year long then right at the end tried to make a last ditch offer, same with Mussina...At that point Mussina staying didn`t mean much, the team was gutted anyway...

Signing Albert Belle was HORRIBLE and they overpaid as well, still are paying for Belle...

This is why the Orioles have no real General Manager , nobody can work for him...Thats why he had ancient nobody wants me Syd Thryft running the show the last few years ,lol..

Jman, compare this with what the braves did in the late 80's.

1. The rehiring of Bobby Cox.

2. The trade of Doyle Alexander for J. Smoltz.

3. The great farm system that produced, Glavine, Avery, Millwood, Chipper, Giles, Furcal, Andruw, Klesko, Javy, Moss, and many more.

4. The hiring of John Scherholtz.

5. The signing of Maddux.

and now the all time winner of division championships consecutively.. -- wish i could discuss this with you but ive got to leave for a few hours..

Don't forget about Robbie ALomar and Kevin Brown.

Robbie: you spit on the umpire.. gone

Kevin Brown: you don't deserve any offer for a 12-12 record, besides we have Mussina who is our #1 forever! We don't need you K Brown..go away and he sure did!

Charles Johnson: why did they trade him for Brook Fordyce? oh yeah they didn't want to give him any contract over and wanted to rebuild. CJ WAS a young guy..geezus.

But the #1 reason why the O's were ruined besides Angelos is the Baltimore Ravens. I'm not going to explain..

Journey - Don't forget Curt Shilling, the infamous Glenn Davis trade, and the shitty treatment of the old Memorial Stadium by Angelos - He looks out for one thing and one thing only - his law practice.

I think Balt did okay yesterday. Ponson had, prior to this year, been nothing more than 0.500 and who knows if this current pace is sustainable? Moss and Ainsworth are two good young arms with upside. (LOL of course so were a lot of others like Rick Ankiel).

Could you imagine where the O's would be with Brown and Mussina?

SSI , LOL Funny you mention John Schuerholtz , another ex Baltimore Oriole Family member....At one time Baltimore was the model franchise, this dates back awhile now...Very similar to how the SF 49ers are now in football with the bloodlines linking back to the Walsh era...

Its just a shame really, 6-7 years ago Baltimore could have had any free agent they wanted but PETER ANGELOS is black balled now, and the franchise is on the decline, attendance at all time low`s...Maybe if he lets Flanagan run the team it can return to how it was , there is not much left though of how it was...

Guys like Hank Peters, Cal Sr., Weaver, Ray Miller, Bamburger, Robinson`s this is why the team was the winningest franchise for 30 years...Angelos, since he took over its been all downhill new stadium and all....He even fired Jon Miller for being to objective?!?!?!

I`m not sold on if Kevin Brown would be the same great pitcher in the AL///

Brown seems way more suited for the NL ...

Glenn Davis trade was another, lol, how could I forget that one? 24 homers in 3 years with Balto, after being a power hitter in the cavernous Astrodome...

Letting Charles Johnson go made no sense at the time either...They basically gave Armando Benitez away in retrospect...Brooke Fordyce isn`t even a major leaguer...

Like you said JOURNEY... DAVEY JOHNSON... that's when Angelos troubles started . Once he fired a good manager, it was the beginning of the end ... my sympathies.. at least you'll always have Eddie Murph...Murray !

like the move the orioles made.
poson might have went some where else if the os could not match the $$ others whould have gave him.
this way we have 2 young pitchers.
also one is lefty even better.
these 2 young players will be god.
im 99% sure albert belle contrsct is over this year.
that will fre up alot of $$ for free agent.
also think scott eckerson is up also but not as sure on that.
if so the oriles will have money to go out and get two or three god players to mix in whith some very young tallent.
they are geting better all the time.
watched this taem all year.
thier skills are geting better.
but thier heart to win is even better.
they play hard every day.
this will ge them far if they countie thisnext year also.
think ourm first base coach has any thing to do whith that?
yes the big dippy played the same way.
orioles have a outside chance whith right move next year to be a wild card team.

Ironically they could re-sign Ponson at season`s end....

Letting Ponson go wasn`t a bad move considering what they got and looking dim the could re-sign him...
